| | Holy Childhood Up With What I'm Down With CD Holy Childhood Discography of CDs
Holy Childhood is a collective of musicians who manage to combine an uncanny edge of blues, soul, electric folk, and indie. Frontman Danny Leo leads an orchestration of backing vocals, horns, piano, and guitars that are meshed beautifully in a complex manner that doesn't get lost in itself. Featuring a personnel of 18 members, the results are a soothing melody of difficult, but catchy pop aesthetics. It would be an insult to directly compare Up With What I'm Down With to any other album. But one thing is for sure: the music gene is definitely strong in the Leo family. The name can also be found in Chisel (which was led by brother Ted Leo), Van Pelt, and The Lapse (the last two fronted by other brother, Chris Leo). ~ Mike DaRonco
The Holy Childhood includes: Nawi Avila (saxophone); Danny Leo; Andrew Barker, Sherry Sacks, Gibb Slife, Jodi Buonnanno, Buik Prentice, Ted Leo, Jordan Mclane, Tom Abbs.
Recording information: Rarebook Room, Brooklyn, NY.

Up With What I'm Down With album
$14.75 After fulfilling their contract with the tiny Carrere label, Saxon signed to mighty EMI looking for a major overhaul to re-ignite their carrer. The resulting album is one of their most controversial, viewed by some as an all time-low, while others consider it the band's last gasp of brilliance. Vocalist Biff Byford and bassist Steve Dawson collaborated on a number of very strong tunes, perhaps their best since the "Denim and Leather" glory days, but ...

Up With What I'm Down With music CDs
$9.99 The most booty-kickin' spoof Metal group to come down the pike since Spinal Tap is Steel Dragon, the Mark Wahlberg-fronted hair band in the film ROCK STAR. Along with other '80s metal tracks and modern tunes, this soundtrack makes for a great listen.
ROCK STAR is based on Tim "Ripper" Owens, who left his Judas Priest cover band to join the real thing. The cover band in the film is Blood Pollution, who give us the catchy, hard-rocking "Wasted Generation." Steel Dragon does a full-throttle cover of Rainbow's "Long Live Rock And Roll" that retains the spirit of the original. Steel Dragon's original tunes such ...

| | Fastway CD (1983)
Up With What I'm Down With CD music
$5.95 Bluesy hard rock and boogie was still around in the early 1980s, even as hair metal started grabbing all the attention. One such British band, Fastway, was led by two veterans: Motorhead guitarist Fast Eddie Clarke and Humble Pie drummer Jerry Shirley. They recruited unknown singer and harmonica player David King and released their successful self-titled debut in 1983. Fastway had no full-time bassist at this point, and whoever played on the album isn't credited. King was a virtual Robert Plant clone, and to say that much of Fastway bears more than a passing resemblance to Led Zeppelin is an understatement. Despite its derivative nature, this is sloppy, unrefined fun. Overall, Clarke's guitar work here is more diverse than ...

Up With What I'm Down With album
$10.39 On their first full-length release, the Hurt Process played a formulaic brand of rock common to the late '90s and early 2000s -- that is, a blend of punk, hardcore, metal, and pop; much alternation of all-out crunching passages with more subdued, contemplative ones; and vocals that ran the gamut from a throat-full-o'-razor-blades growl to high, yearning sweet harmonies. It might not be too distinctive, but it's tight and well done here, almost slickly so. "I'm just drowning in confused emotion, I don't know where to...stand and how to feel," they ...
