Feted by bikers, respected by punks, Motorhead exemplified rock's outlaw chic. On Ace Of Spades their speed-metal attack exploded with unparalleled fury. Thrashing guitars and primitive drums underpinned vocalist/bassist Lemmy, whose blooded-throat ... Full Descriptionroar enhances the trio's aggression. Mind-numbingly basic and deafeningly loud, they savage rock's pomp and circumstance, rivalling 'Louie Louie' for simplicity and excitement. Chock-full of anthems for the dispossessed (witness '(We Are) The Road Crew'), Ace Of Spades is a classic of its genre. Motorhead exude the same cartoon personae as the Ramones, and as a result inspire a similar affection.

Kerrang (Magazine) (p.51) - "[A] breathless, breakneck demolition of vintage rock 'n' roll, played with lashings of distortion and attitude..." Ace Of Spades CD music
$10.39 OVERKILL stands as one of Motorhead's greatest albums, an all-time heavy metal classic. After creating a buzz amongst British headbangers with their 1977 self-titled album, Motorhead began seriously assaulting the U.K. charts with this breakout sophomore hit, which was produced by the Rolling Stones' former knob-twiddler Jimmy Miller.
The songwriting and musical direction had become stronger and more focused, as evidenced by such raucous Motorhead classics as the title track, "Stay Clean," "Capricorn," "No Class," and the epic "Metropolis." OVERKILL began a string of hit European albums for the band, which would include such future metal gems as BOMBER, ACE OF SPADES, and NO SLEEP 'TIL HAMMERSMITH.
Includes liner notes by Steffan Chirazi.
| | Motorhead Iron Fist CD (1982) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Ace Of Spades music CDs
$10.19 Motorhead were riding high in the early-'80s, courtesy of such big U.K. hit albums as ACE OF SPADES and NO SLEEP 'TIL HAMMERSMITH, so there was no reason to worry about an imminent, career-threatening turmoil. Or so fans thought. Problems were brewing behind the scenes--longtime guitarist "Fast" Eddie Clarke would be exiting the band after only one more studio album, 1982's IRON FIST. Produced by Clarke himself, though it didn't achieve the instant classic status of the previous two, FIST kept Motorhead in the heavy metal spotlight.
The title track remains a rapid fire Motorhead classic, while such oft-overlooked rockers as "Got To Hell" and "Sex and Outrage" proved to be highlights. By 1983, Motorhead announced the addition of a new (albeit short lived) line-up, featuring ex-Thin Lizzy guitar slinger Brian Robertson, while Clarke formed a new band, Fastway.
Recorded in January and February 1982. Includes liner notes by Steffan Chirazi.
All tracks have been digitally remastered.
+ 5 Bonus Tracks
Motorhead includes: Lemmy Kilmister (vocals, bass); "Fast" Eddie Clarke.
| | Motorhead Another Perfect Day CD (1983) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Ace Of Spades songs
$10.39 When it became known that "Fast" Eddie Clarke had split from Motorhead, heavy metal fans feared the end of this hard-living trio. But when it was announced that ex-Thin Lizzy guitarist Brian Robertson was joining drummer Phil Taylor and bassist/lead growler Lemmy, another typically styled Motorhead release could have understandably been anticipated.
However, while 1983's ANOTHER PERFECT DAY was still unmistakably a Motorhead album, Robertson brought in with him some musical elements that caused quite a bit of controversy amongst longtime fans--most notably the subtle use of synthesizers. Still, such furious tracks as "Shine" and "Dancing on Your Grave" showed that this new line-up held promise. But ANOTHER PERFECT DAY would be the only Motorhead release to feature Robertson, as he exited after the subsequent tour (as did longtime drummer Taylor), leaving Lemmy the lone original member.
All tracks have been digitally remastered.
+ 3 Bonus Tracks. Feat.Brian Robertson-Thinlizzy
Includes liner notes by Steffan Chirazi.
Motorhead includes: Lemmy Kilmister (vocals, bass); Brian Robertson (guitar).
| | Motorhead Rock 'N' Roll CD (1987) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Ace Of Spades album
$10.39 With the dual guitar attack of Wurzel and Phil Campbell solidified after the release of 1986's ORGASMATRON (Motorhead's strongest studio album since 1980's classic ACE OF SPADES), the band went directly back into the studio to record a follow-up, 1987's ROCK 'N' ROLL. The album featured the welcome return of original drummer Phil Taylor, who had been briefly replaced by ex-Saxon drummer Pete Gill.
As the title suggests, ROCK 'N' ROLL is another slice of no frills, straight-ahead Motorhead power rock. While not as consistent as the aforementioned ORGASMATRON, the band offers another in a long line of tasteless classics in the form of "Eat the Rich." Other standouts, such as the title track and "Stone Deaf in the U.S.A.," will please longtime fans.
Recorded in 1987. Includes liner notes by Stefan Chirazi.
All tracks have been digitally remastered.
. 2 Bonus Tracks
Motorhead: Lemmy Kilmeister (vocals, guitar); Wurzel, Phil Campbell (guitar, slide guitar, background vocals); Philthy "Animal" Taylor (drums).
Additional personnel: Michael Palin (spoken vocals).
| | VH1 Presents The Corrs Live In Dublin CD (2002)
Ace Of Spades CD music
$11.59 This audio document of The Corrs' Dublin homecoming concert has pretty much everything fans of Irish pop could wish for, including an appearance from Bono in his earthly incarnation, fresh from an audience with President George W. Bush. It's to the band's credit that the charismatic singer fails to steal the show, despite creditable efforts via an anthemized version of Ryan Adams' beautifully downtempo "When the Stars Go Blue," and a great, leering rendition of Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra's "Summer Wine."
Somewhat more mysteriously, Rolling Stone Ron Wood also turns up on what sounds dangerously close to a lounge version of Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing," but this minor faux pas is redeemed by the Irish folk medley "Joy of Life/Trout in the Bath" which arguably features more full-on Irishness than the Dublin production of RIVERDANCE. There's also a lovely rendition of Neil Young's "Only Love Can Break Your Heart" that's topped only by Ron Wood's reappearance on a finale of the Stones' "Ruby Tuesday." VH1 PRESENTS THE CORRS LIVE IN DUBLIN is a fine mix of the band's greatest hits with a few well-chosen covers, which will doubtless reach out to new fans and longtime Corrs aficionados alike.
Recorded at Ardmore Studios in Dublin, Ireland in January 2002.
The Corrs: Jim Corr (vocals, guitar, keyboards); Sharon Corr (vocals, violin); Andrea Corr (vocals, tin whistle); Caroline Corr (vocals, drums, bodhran, percussion).
