Feted by bikers, respected by punks, Motorhead exemplified rock's outlaw chic. On Ace Of Spades their speed-metal attack exploded with unparalleled fury. Thrashing guitars and primitive drums underpinned vocalist/bassist Lemmy, whose blooded-throat roar enhances the trio's aggression. Mind-numbingly basic and deafeningly loud, they savage rock's pomp and circumstance, rivalling 'Louie Louie' for simplicity and excitement. Chock-full of anthems for the dispossessed (witness '(We Are) The Road Crew'), Ace Of Spades is a classic of its genre. Motorhead exude the same cartoon personae as the Ramones, and as a result inspire a similar affection.

Kerrang (Magazine) (p.51) - "[A] breathless, breakneck demolition of vintage rock 'n' roll, played with lashings of distortion and attitude..."
Aural Assault By the time your brain registers that the album has begun, it's too late. The opening strains of the title track seizes the senses and all other metal you've ever heard is as pointless as an ashtray on a Harley. Play this one LOUD!!! timeless classic This is Motorhead's best known record and it is a total classic. Good music never sounds dated and there's still no band out there today that can do this kind of music the way Motorhead does it.
There's a few bonus tracks on it too, notably the track Please Don't Touch which they did with Girlschool. Submitted by dwjcarson (Madrid, Spain) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo 1 of 3 found this helpful.
