Buddha
$6.49 Following the release of their 1996 debut CHESHIRE CAT, Blink 182 returns with a satisfactory sophomore effort. Clearly influenced by the likes of Green Day and Weezer, Blink 182 provides fast, aggressive punk that is also melodic and fun. The trio's lyrics are filled with the angst and alienation that teens can relate to, while injecting humor also. "A New Hope" is an ode to Princess Leia and the Star Wars gang, while "Waggy" is a word bassist Mark Hoppus came up with while belching. Hard-core fans of the band will not ...
| | Blink 182 Enema Of The State CD (1999) Enhanced CD
Buddha
$10.99 Blink 182 embodies all the rock & roll verities, from savage, power chord-driven, guitar-bass-and-drums attack to a carefully cultivated tastelessness (see album title and cover art), bolstered by plenty of attitude (the abundance of tattoos doesn't hurt either). The band's post-Green Day pop-punk leaps out of the speakers with zero subtlety and maximum aggression. Guitars alternately blaze ...
| | Blink 182 Mark, Tom & Travis Show: The Enema Strikes Back CD (2000)
Buddha
$10.59 This is a limited edition packaged in a digipack with concert booklet.
Recorded live at The Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, San Francisco, California on November 4, 1999 and at The Universal Amphitheater on November 5, 1999.
A live run through of Blink 182's greatest hits, recorded before adoring California crowds, this album is probably the best way to experience these endearing pop-punkers' infectious three or four chords Green Day-ish sonic assault. Highlights include the uncharacteristically melancholy "Adam's Song," "Family Reunion" (a dirty joke with great ...
| | Blink 182 Cheshire Cat CD (1995) (Import) Reissue; United Kingdom
Buddha
$7.39 After releasing a number of 7" singles over the years, Blink 182 offers CHESHIRE CAT, its full-length album. The San Diego based group (that started out as El Cautro and the Caj'ones) has honed its playing, songwriting, and surfboarding skills to create a fun record for all. Punky and melodic, CHESHIRE CAT is a great party album. The pace rarely lets up and the songs don't wander too far stylistically, but nothing exceeds like excess!
"Does My Breath Smell?" is a funny tune of teenage ambivalence. Furiously fast, the song begs one to get up and move (and not care how you look). "Cacophony" starts off with a slow bass line leading into a melodic intro. The pace then ...
| | VH1 Presents The Corrs Live In Dublin CD (2002)
Buddha
$6.79 This audio document of The Corrs' Dublin homecoming concert has pretty much everything fans of Irish pop could wish for, including an appearance from Bono in his earthly incarnation, fresh from an audience with President George W. Bush. It's to the band's credit that the charismatic singer fails to steal the show, despite creditable efforts via an anthemized version of Ryan Adams' beautifully downtempo "When the Stars Go Blue," and a great, leering rendition of Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra's "Summer Wine."
Somewhat more mysteriously, Rolling Stone Ron Wood also turns up on what sounds dangerously close to a lounge version of Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing," but this minor faux pas is redeemed by the Irish folk medley "Joy of Life/Trout in the Bath" which arguably features more full-on Irishness than ...
| | Blink 182 Blink-182 CD (2003) Enhanced CD
Buddha
$12.59 Additional personnel includes: Robert Smith (vocals); Ken Andrews (various instruments); Roger Joseph Manning, Jr., Jon Morrical (keyboards).
In the world of emo and pop-punk, 2003 not only found Blink 182 qualifying for the early bird special, but the creators of a self-titled outing that represents a big step in musical maturity for a band best known for serial nudity and a jokey, skate-punk attitude. Rest assured, this trio hasn't lost its taste for serious riffing and catchy-as-all-get-out harmonies, as evidenced by the thumping "Go," the jittery "Stockholm Syndrome," and the anthemic "Easy Target."
For the most part, however, Blink 182 has cast a wide net in tweaking their sound, be it the stripped-down combination of Tom DeLonge's surf guitar and the finger snaps that define "Violence" or the tight shuffle drummer Travis Barker employs throughout "I Miss You." A singing and songwriting cameo by the Cure's Robert Smith on "All of This" makes for a strange ...

Buddha
$20.35 Digital B Studios and Music Works Studios, Kingston, Jamaica; Far East Digital Studio, New York, New York. Includes liner notes by Rob Kenner.
CAAN DUN is the most representative set of music available from the gravel-voiced Shabba Ranks, whose first decade of work yielded two Grammy awards and significant crossover success. Anyone who's ever heard a sample of Ranks' music probably has some sense of what makes it distinct: the timbre of synthesized bass, the frequent presence of guest vocalists, and Ranks' ...
