| | Unearth Stings Of Conscience CD (2001)
Lift The Curse album
$9.55 (MP3 Available for Download) Hardcore albums never sound this perfect, nor do most death or black metal albums for that matter. In fact, it would not be a stretch to announce this as the holy grail of the new breed of European metal-influenced hardcore that has sprung up recently with the likes of Shadow's Fall, Darkest Hour, Red Roses for a Blue Lady, Sevenday Curse, All That Remains, and several others. Upon initially listening to this CD, many might require essays to describe the utter awe and complete mind-trip this album is likely to reign over them. Maybe it is comparable to those first Heartwork, Left Hand Path, Slaughter of the Soul, or In the Nightside of Eclipse experiences, jaw-dropping affairs that change listeners' views of music -- in said genre of course. Defying every expectation set upon the hardcore genre, The Stings of Conscience draws upon the bottomless pool of European metal talent (plus the occasional overt American influence) and melds it with traditional hardcore. The result brings about the most blissfully indulgent, entrancing, and overall greatest hardcore release ever. After a pleasant but normal opening track, the unleashing of terror and technical dismay arrives on "One Step Away," when the lead guitar suddenly bursts into ...

| | Pink Martini Sympathique CD (1997)
Lift The Curse album
$13.89 (MP3 Available for Download) The first album by Portland, Oregon's tongue in cheek lounge pop orchestra Pink Martini, SYMPATHIQUE, was originally released in 1997 on the band's own Heinz label. Although the album contains two originals by singer China Forbes and pianist Thomas Lauderdale, the title track and "Lullaby," the bulk of the album's 12 songs consists of new arrangements of loungy favorites like "Never On Sunday," "Que Sera Sera," "Brazil," and "Song of the Black Lizard," taken from the soundtrack of a Japanese cult film. Unlike contemporaries such as Combustible Edison, Pink Martini had the musical ...

| | Union Live In The Galaxy CD (1999)
Lift The Curse MP3 Album
$22.09 It seems rather odd that Union would choose to make their second album a live document -- with only one prior album, they don't exactly have a large back catalog to draw from, which means that there's a good chance it will have mostly the same songs as its predecessor. Thankfully, six of the 13 songs on Live in the Galaxy did not appear on Union, and since the ...
| | Parkway Drive Killing With A Smile CD (2006)
Lift The Curse music CDs
$11.65 (MP3 Available for Download) Like their peers I Killed the Prom Queen, Australia's Parkway Drive have read up on the metalcore handbook as written by popular American bands like Killswitch Engage and As I Lay Dying. Their debut, Killing with a Smile, is all about punishing breakdowns, death metal riffing, hardcore aggression, and monstrous growls that want nothing more than to spit and snarl until listeners entirely understand just how pissed off they really are and, well, that they're not joking. Outside of a rough and venomous exterior (and incessant use of murderous and bloody imagery), Parkway Drive prove to really be just a bunch of tough Aussies with broken hearts. Of course, though, this means malicious and infuriated revenge directed at the young maidens who have tossed them aside. Consequently, lyrical treasures abound on the album: vocalist Winston McCall compassionately declares, "Cry me a f*cking river bitch/You wouldn't know love if it crushed your f*cking chest" in the fittingly titled "Romance Is Dead" before announcing several songs later that "If looks could kill you'd be a f*cking shotgun against my head...I would so love ...
