| | Tribal Trance Didgin' In The Dirt CD Tribal Trance Discography of CDs
The name of this trio of musicians tells it all-- DIDGIN' IN THE DIRT is entrancing in every way. The repetitive rhythms of the hand drums and the drone of the ancient aboriginal wind instrument, the didgeridoo, characterize nearly all nine ... Full Descriptionpieces. Evoking the mood and sounds of aboriginal music from Australia, these musicians bring to life the mystique of tribal music and the silent spirit of the land itself.
Percussively similar to Hindustani Qawwal music, this music essentially seeks the same union with the Creator and the unseen world. However, use of soprano saxophone and keyboards, while sparing, takes this music outside the pale of strict or authentic tribal music. Nonetheless, DIDGIN' IN THE DIRT provides a soundscape that invigorates the soul and encourages a kind of rigorous introspection, its meditative power lying in the general aura that seems to surround these compositions. DIDGIN' IN THE DIRT quiets mental chatter and instead pulls the listener in the direction of the visceral and the primal. Highlights include the opening track, "River," and "Afternoon Storm."
Recorded at AH Studios, Old, Australia in January 1996.
Tribal Trance: Rodger (vocals, drums); Nelson (flute, saxophone); Matt (didgeridoo); Penny, Andrew (keyboards).

| | Loreena McKennitt Book Of Secrets CD (1997)
Didgin' In The Dirt CD music
$15.65 Loreena McKennitt began her career as a New Age pop chanteuse, steeped in Celtic folk mysticism and possessed of an airy, ethereal voice. Over the course of her career she has dabbled to varying extremes in the pop format, but she remains true to the spirit of the traditional balladeer on THE BOOK OF SECRETS. With the aid of top-flight musicians like Danny Thompson and David Rhodes, she weaves a web of fanciful, wispy folk-rock that's not afraid to be beautiful as it pulls listeners in with it's comforting hypnotic qualities.

Didgin' In The Dirt album
$10.05 AMARANTINE, a poetic name for a mythical, everlasting flower, is an appropriate metaphor for the music. Luxuriant, mysterious, and with a deep aesthetic sense, Enya's music seems to surge and unfurl like a blooming flower. Fans who feared Enya may have lost her touch since this album's multi-platinum predecessor can rest easy. Atmospheric, stirring, and masterfully executed, AMARANTINE is as fully realized and accomplished as anything the artist has released.
After a five-year silence in the wake of her phenomenally successful release A DAY WITHOUT RAIN, Enya ...
| | Tomita - Snowflakes Are Dancing CD (2000)
Didgin' In The Dirt CD music
$9.75 The music of Claude Debussy, with its exotic color and quirky harmonies is well suited to performance on any number of different instruments. Japanese synthesizer wizard Tomita realized that the moog synthesizer, with its almost limitless palette of colors and sounds, would be ideal for Debussy's music. "Snowflakes Are Dancing" is Tomita's electronic vision of Debussy.
The moog synthesizer creates sounds that defy description. The synthesizer also has the ability to recreate the sounds of such traditional instruments as the harpsichord, organ, trumpet and strings. The synthesizer can mimic sound of the human voice. Tomita draws on all of these possibilities in his presentation of Debussy's music. Debussy favorites such as "Clair de lune" and "The Girl with the Flaxen Hair" take on a new life in Tomita's treatment. For example, the sound of the ocean, punctuated by the cries of seagulls provides the ideal stage for Tomita's treatment of "The Engulfed Cathedral." Tomita's ...

| | Nicholas Gunn Through The Great Smoky Mountains: A Musical Journey CD (2002)
Didgin' In The Dirt CD music
$14.09 The third installment of Nicholas Gunn's National Park-themed albums guides us through the beauty of Southern Appalachia. Gunn writes dramatically structured instrumentals for keyboards and flute, conjuring summits and valleys in bold strokes rather than wispy pastels. He alters the mood of each song with judicious use of percussion, and allows little room for the repetition or monotony that can infect an album of pop instrumentals.
The mixed ethnic character of the songs echoes (bit does not mimic outright) that of the area's original Cherokee and Scotch-Irish inhabitants. "Trail of Tears," a heart-rending dirge for flute, piano, and Native drum, addresses the savage ousting of the Cherokee by Andrew Jackson's government in the early 1800s. In "Passage ...
