Cave In's hardcore beginnings
This album is miles away from the dreamy progressive, sometimes even popy sounds of their later albums starting with Jupiter. It is brutal, heavily influenced by pantera and sepultura, in fact some power chords are exactly like pantera's. Definately a hard hitting metal record. However it already sounds slightly dated. Not the most original thing you will ever hear but a harbringer of greatness to come.

dont touch that dial!
this album is a masterpiece, albeit it is far from antenna, or jupiter and such, the mix of metal, dissonance, and trippy guitars makes this album appeal to a lot more than just the hc crowd
check out newer cave-in if you are more into experimentation and don't mind pink floyd or rush ;)
if you like the hard hitting sound of this, check out beyond hypothermia

this is the best live act of come out of boston (hands down)
what would happen if pink floyd and pantera got into a car crash well here it is.........this cd is nothing but pure brilliance i honestly can't decide if this or jupiter is their best but as always they are both completely different from each other with cave in what you hear on cd is what you hear live and that is soooo disheartening for fellow musicans, they make you wanna pack your guitar and just simply give up.(i almost forgot about the "beatlesque" melodic vocals that come out to sooth everything together)
