220 VOLT LIVE is the companion to the full length video-album THREE PHASE.

It's no secret that Tangerine Dream has undergone many transformations in the quarter-century of its existence. Simply put, clichT wasn't the only rust penetrating the Dream's armor; corrosive lackluster-ness was also intruding. TD's '90s metamorphosis has the band finally reaping big rewards--especially in the good old U.S. of A--since trading in epic grandeur for energized sound bites.

220 VOLT LIVE puts the doubts to rest (at least until the next studio effort) that Froese & friends can not only still stage a convincing and imaginative show but also program out the chaff by getting with the program. The improvisational hallmarks of their live performances remain a constant--a definite plus. The record undoubtedly contains re-worked versions of music from ROCKOON, LILY ON THE BEACH, etc., but these pieces have been re-worked with more fire, ingenuity, and spark than their studio counterparts. It's good to hear that the Dream hasn't faded into memory. Nice CD package, too.

4 stars Another TD triumph...
This recording, made during the '92 North American tour, strolls back and forth between cool blue mellow and roaring red hot thunderstorm with ease and takes no prisoners. TD magic is joined here by soul soothing sax, and and soaring guitar and blends up for a must-taste stew for fans of the group.

Tangerine Dream at their Best! A great song list with perfect mixing & a great sound! I highly reccommend this cd for all TD fans! TD is a must-see in concert, if you get the chance to see them live, do it!
