Swedish death metal purists Unleashed were really starting to hit their creative stride with their second and third albums, 1992's Shadows in the Deep and 1993's Across the Open Sea, respectively. Which is why Century Media's combined, one-disc reissue of the pair offers such a cost-effective opportunity for tentative fans wishing to sample both CDs in their entirety. On their own, these albums haven't withstood the test of time as well as the band's next set of releases, 1995's Victory and 1997's Warrior, but there's far more strength in numbers here, and that makes them well worth checking out. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia

BEST OF THE BEST easily the VERY BEST 2 death metal albums EVER recorded - in ONE package !!!
Forget everything you heard about "true and evil" death metal, forget kiddiebands such as cannibal corpse, arch enemy, in flames e.g.!!
unleahed = best death metal band ever!!
I suggest you get yourself this one!!
and also victory!! but NOT in the package with the very weak warrior-release!! Submitted by ommafrieda (eu, germany) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo 2 of 3 found this helpful.
"Across the open sea" LP is basic in Sweeden DEATH METAL Across the open... album is one of the fudaments in early scandinavian death metal scene and in all places in the world. Many bands are inspired by this album. It's wery nice feeling when you listen this album at home I mean TOO MUCH ADRENALINE. All the concept is so great combined its like mixture of antic viking culture, war, religions, today's social way of living and laws. Very good guitar riffs
not so fast but attack with wery good tempo & also melodic and not bouring. Drumms are in background but they are folowing exactly how suposed to be I mean logicaly for old death metal.
This is one of my cult albums for 90's metal. You must hear this one if you doubt Submitted by zoranrist (Skopje, R.Macedonia) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo
