(2 Customer Reviews)
Although Dark Tranquillity's albums have tended to be fairly similar to one another, PROJECTOR finds the group attempting to broaden their horizons a bit, taking more chances, and more often than not, succeeding. The group in general sounds more mature, and the high level of musicianship is unimpeachable. This edition of PROJECTOR contains the bonus tracks "Asleep In The Bandaged Light," "No One," "Exposure," and a live version of "Therein."

Projector album
$21.29 Special Edition CD includes the full album, a CD of instrumental mixes of the album and a CD of six cover songs.
Dream Theater's tenth long-player is about as dense and challenging as any album in the band's discography and emphasizes not only the virtuoso members' stupefying musicianship, but also their most aggressive and thoroughly metallic songwriting tendencies. The sixteen-minute opener "A Nightmare to Remember" ...

While the Moodies were never exactly a rocker's delight, SEVENTH SOJOURN, the seventh recording with the post-Denny Laine lineup, is perhaps their most ballad-heavy album. Ironically, the album's biggest hit, which would become one of the group's signature songs, was the uncharacteristically uptempo "I'm Just a Singer in a Rock and Roll Band." Elsewhere, ...

| | Ace Frehley Trouble Walkin' CD (1989)
Projector album
$10.89 The more pop-based direction of 1988's SECOND SIGHTING failed to make an impression on the charts, and the album came and went shortly after its release. A year later, Frehley issued the more hard rocking TROUBLE WALKING. The album, co-produced with bassist John Regan, contained a gaggle of musical special guests (among them ex-Kiss bandmember Peter Criss and Skid Row members Sebastian Bach, Dave 'Snake' Sabo, and Rachel Bolan). Also returning to the band was original rhythm guitarist Richie Scarlet.
An inspired cover of Electric Light Orchestra's "Do Ya" was nearly a hit on MTV, while other highlights included the album opening "Shot Full of Rock," the blues workout "Remember Me," and the instrumental "Fractured III." And, while such compositions as "2 Young to Die," "Back to School," and the title track were a bit predictable (musically and lyrically), it was good to see Frehley returning to his hard rock roots. The ...
| | Black Sabbath Sabotage CD (1975) Remastered; Digipak
Projector CD music
$10.45 While many hard-core Black Sabbath fans consider 1975's SABOTAGE to be the band's most underrated album, it can also be pointed to as the beginning of the end for the original Osbourne-Iommi-Butler-Ward line-up. Osbourne was starting to feel disillusioned with the group, and the seeds for his highly successful solo career in the '80s were being planted. That said, SABOTAGE was the last Sabbath album to truly contain all of the components that made the quartet one the most popular heavy metal bands of all-time, before it pursued less focused musical detours.
The album's most surprising cut is undoubtedly the tripped-out psychedelic rocker "Am I Going Insane (Radio)," which would be included a year later on Sabbath's greatest-hits collection, WE SOLD OUR SOUL FOR ROCK N' ROLL. Other standouts include the crushing album opener, "Hole in the Sky," as well as the ultra-stimulated rager "Symptom of the Universe," which would be used later as an opener for Ozzy Osbourne's 1982 solo live album of Sabbath nuggets, SPEAK OF THE DEVIL. While those just discovering ...

| | Soilent Green Deleted Symphony For The Beaten Down CD (2001)
Projector songs
$24.59 Soilent Green's third album continues in the vein of their 1998 breakthrough, Sewn Mouth Secrets, mixing together grindcore, hardcore, and Southern rock, along with elements of doom, death, and black metal, in the form of quick-hitting, constantly shape-shifting songs that just do not let up. Compared with Sewn Mouth Secrets, this album puts more emphasis on the band's grindcore side (not that it wasn't already prevalent), and the instrumental twists -- the constant ...

| | Edgar Broughton Inside Out CD (1972) Remastered
Projector CD music
$10.15 Inside Out is the Edgar Broughton Band's fourth album, following the success of 1970's self-titled release. Although the humor and novel attributions of the group aren't quite as prevalent here as in the band's first few albums, Inside Out still has plenty of distinguishing characteristics, both musically and lyrically, to hold it together. "Chilly Morning Mama" and the tawdry "Gone Blue" add crass humor to instrumental improvisation in perfect Broughton-like style, ...
| | Amorphis Eclipse CD (2006)
Projector music CDs
$11.69 After forcing their eclectic but often scattered sonic experiments to extremes of self-indulgence on albums like Tuonela and Am Universum (both of which still offered the odd great song, mind you), Finnish heavy metal godfathers Amorphis found their way back to songwriting consistency and economy on 2004's acclaimed Far from the Sun. A surprisingly focused amalgam of past and present, that album marked a measured return to Amorphis' heavy metal roots after years of apparent disownment, and set the stage for yet another compelling LP in 2006's even more unapologetically metallic Eclipse. Not that either one of the records could be called a death metal slugfest, nor a complete abandonment of those not-always-stellar but still necessary forays into other progressive musical realms, but rather mature and well-balanced statements, acknowledging the style that made the band famous in the first place. New songs such as "Two Moons," "House of Sleep," and "Born from Fire" offer driving heavy rock, frequently embellished with atmospheric piano passages, psychedelic organs, and, yes, those alluring folksy melodies that first distinguished Amorphis from ...
