| From The Discworld Music Review Average Rating: (1 out of 5 stars) Unlistenable As a huge Terry Pratchett fan I bought this album expecting the music to be on par with the brilliant music for the Discworld games. How wrong I was.
This is an unlistenable mishmash of cheesy synth-pop...and cheesy is the word. Take "The Shades Of Ankh-Morpork". If you know the books you will probably have an image of the Shades in your head and will probably have an idea of the kind of music that would fit the bill. Let me tell you , this is not it. It is an unbearable bubblegum pop song, sung by the singer who did the "Teletubbies" theme song. In fact, this song would be more appropriate on an infants' TV show then on a Discworld album.
That is the problem suffered by much of the album-the songs simply do not match up with their titles. "Unseen University", for example, should be dramatic and swirly, for example, to reflect the feel of that building from the books. Instead...more cheesy pop.
Apart from music that in no way realtes to the ethos of Discworld, the other unifying theme of the album is one of total self indulgence. In the sleeve notes it is noted that one of the tracks had five whole (synthesised) organs on it-just because Greenslade could. Nauseating.
Note that this review gives it one star. That one star goes to Terry Pratchett's amusing sleeve notes, not at all to the music. Submitted by a reviewer (Surrey, England) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Flight Of The Conchords I Told You I Was Freaky CD (2009) Digipak
From The Discworld
$12.44 After a glorious first season that earned the HBO show six Emmy nominations, Flight of the Conchords' second run didn't quite pack the same comedic punch. Some would say it was because the premise lost its luster, but it was mostly because the music just wasn't as strong. Most of the songs in Season One were pre-written and hashed out over years of stand-up, and for Season Two, Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie were in a time crunch: forced to write a dozen or so funny songs and ten episodes from scratch. Considering the circumstances, FOTC's second Sub-Pop outing, I TOLD YOU I WAS FREAKY, has some worthwhile moments. In the R. Kelly-based "We're in Love with a Sexy Lady," Bret and Jemaine debate semantics while trying to determine if they're after the same lazy-eyed girl. "When'd you meet this lady?/Then./When?/Then./Right ...

$15.95 Damian AzrielFollowing in the footsteps of guitar wizards and songwriters Robert Johnson, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Jack Johnson and Ben Harper, Damian’s highly infectious original music transports us to a place where time is standing still. It reminds us of the power that real live rock n' roll has to make you feel allright and knock your freakin' socks right off. Tune up your air guitars and get ready to jam with some heavy sonic sounds. Damian's influences include Blues, Jazz, Rock, Alternative and ???. Hailing from Vancouver BC, Damian has been featured on local radio stations CFOX, CFRO, and CITR and internationally on Englands’ Radio 2XS. Proficient on the bass, drums, harmonica, piano and guitar, he has been writing music, singing and playing in original bands since the age of 15. Damian has released several original recordings, the latest entitled "Girl Trouble" in 2005. He once auditioned to be the guitarist in the Red Hot Chili Peppers and was told that his playing ability was great, but he wasn't "punk rock enough." "I took my combat boots off when I was 16" says ...
