| | Dave Greenslade Terry Pratchett's From The Discworld CD Dave Greenslade Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
A result of the friendship between Greenslade and Terry Pratchett, the author of the Discworld novels, with narration by Tony Robinson. Greenslade avoids the comic tone of the books, settling instead for a symphonic effect to depict Pratchett's unlikely fantasy world. ~ Steven McDonald Terry Pratchett's From The Discworld Music Dave Greenslade Terry Pratchett's From The Discworld Songs | 1. | A-Tuin the Turtle |

| Terry Pratchett's From The Discworld Music Review Average Rating: (1 out of 5 stars) Unlistenable As a huge Terry Pratchett fan I bought this album expecting the music to be on par with the brilliant music for the Discworld games. How wrong I was.
This is an unlistenable mishmash of cheesy synth-pop...and cheesy is the word. Take "The Shades Of Ankh-Morpork". If you know the books you will probably have an image of the Shades in your head and will probably have an idea of the kind of music that would fit the bill. Let me tell you , this is not it. It is an unbearable bubblegum pop song, sung by the singer who did the "Teletubbies" theme song. In fact, this song would be more appropriate on an infants' TV show then on a Discworld album.
That is the problem suffered by much of the album-the songs simply do not match up with their titles. "Unseen University", for example, should be dramatic and swirly, for example, to reflect the feel of that building from the books. Instead...more cheesy pop.
Apart from music that in no way realtes to the ethos of Discworld, the other unifying theme of the album is one of total self indulgence. In the sleeve notes it is noted that one of the tracks had five whole (synthesised) organs on it-just because Greenslade could. Nauseating.
Note that this review gives it one star. That one star goes to Terry Pratchett's amusing sleeve notes, not at all to the music. Submitted by a reviewer (Surrey, England) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Terry Pratchett's From The Discworld album
$18.74 Whereas Alice Cooper's first two studio albums, 1969's PRETTIES FOR YOU and 1970's EASY ACTION, tended more towards the trippy excesses of the hippie era, their next one, 1971's LOVE IT TO DEATH introduced the world to the heavy sound that Cooper would soon be taking to the top. With the invaluable production assistance of future ...
| | Joe Walsh Smoker You Drink, The Player You Get CD (1973) Gold
Terry Pratchett's From The Discworld CD music
$18.74 "Rocky Mountain Way," the tune that opens Joe Walsh's sophomore release (and remains one of his best-known songs), is a textbook example of Walsh's strengths. The song is driven by a slinky hard rock groove that boasts crunchy, distorted guitars, barrelhouse piano, wiry solos, and a catchy, singalong chorus--proving Walsh's penchant for mixing rock elements and radio-ready accessibility with a sense of wit and fun. The rest of SMOKER YOU DRINK, PLAYER YOU GET follows suit, with the mid-tempo ...

| | The Very Best Of Enya CDs (2009) With DVD
Terry Pratchett's From The Discworld songs
$21.00 Comprised of 18 tracks culled from the singer/composer's first three decades, The Very Best of Enya was pieced together by the artist herself, along with longtime collaborators Nicky and Roma Ryan. Luckily, the trio seems enamored by most of the same songs that the general public is, resulting in one of those rare "greatest-hits" collections that goes deep without depriving the listener of the essentials. With tunes like "Orinoco Flow," "Caribbean Blue," and "Book of Days" in the pot and out of the way, it's easier to appreciate hidden gems like "Cursum Perficio," "Boadicea," "Trains and Winter Rains," and "Anywhere Is." Also notable is the inclusion of "May It Be" and a previously unreleased version of "Aníron (I Desire)," both of which originally appeared on the soundtrack for the first chapter of ...

$14.69 At five feet two inches in height, Frankie "Half Pint" Jaxon was one of the tiniest performers in all of early to mid-20th century African-American entertainment. His often disarmingly funny vocal outbursts were delivered in tones that led and still lead many listeners to mistake him for a woman. Not surprisingly, Half Pint was an accomplished female impersonator as well as a comedian, dancer, pianist, saxophonist, songwriter, bandleader, ...
