This was prepared from the original master tapes. Deceptive Bends Music Review Average Rating: (3 out of 5 stars) "Godley"-ess & Less "Creme"-y, perhaps... ...however, 10cc proved they could still put out great albums! Their clever albeit quirky style of songwriting coupled with their superb music making and recording/producing command makes 10cc an absolute must listen! This was the first album I'd ever bought from the supergroup. But it led me to purchase more and more. Eric Stewart and Graham Gouldman had big shoes to fill indeed when half of their already established quartet left them to pursue their own musical ventures. But when this album came out, with their mega-chart-topping hit, "The Things We Do For Love", as well as "People In Love", their critics were silenced. I personally admired the group for some of their more obscure works, like "You've Got A Cold" and "I Bought A Flat Guitar Tutor" (A great song, by the way, to impress your guitar or vocal instructor with!!) But my most favorite song off this set is, "Feel The Benefit (Parts 1,2 and 3)" - a Jeff Lynne-ish sounding tune in places to be sure, but very excellently produced and versatile! Just get this thang! Submitted by berlinjeans (Thompson, IA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$9.39 10cc's fourth album, HOW DARE YOU, is the last to feature the original lineup of Eric Stewart, Graham Gouldman, Lol Creme and Kevin Godley. Godley and Creme left shortly after the recording of this album to explore the commercial and artistic possibilities of an instrument they invented, the Gizmo. The Gizmo's eerie drone is all over this record, slotting in beautifully with the multilayered vocal arrangements which were the band's other sonic trademark.
The songs included here are more serious than those on the band's earlier records, although "I'm Mandy, Fly Me," "I Wanna Rule the World," and the sarcastic anthem "Art For Art's Sake" are as ...

$13.99 As surely as long-haired, mother-loving bands from Florida, Alabama and Georgia could put the smell of cotton on '70s arena-rock, the children of the South are now cottoning to modern rock. The boundaries have loosened up a bit--the paradigms of this new breed of Southern rock include Live, from Pennsylvania (just above the Mason-Dixon line), and Arizona's Gin Blossoms--and so has the form. The boogie and jangle of old now compete with distorted guitar crunching, and while the new Southern bands honor and respect the family, they're not afraid to recognize how dysfunctional one can be. Call it cotton alternative.
New Orleans, Louisiana's Better Than Ezra are deep in it--backwoods enough to yearn for the scent of pine and good iced tea (the winsome "Southern Girl"), yet urban enough to know the pain and fury of The Smiths and Nirvana. In "Teenager," they empathize with a misunderstood teen who listens ...
