STRANGE BEHAVIOR features 24 remarkable remixes of Duran Duran hits.
The 12" has come a long way from its early incarnation as single version with bits tacked on beginning, middle, and end. This two-disc set spans Duran's club output from Planet Earth, right up to 1993's mega selling Wedding Album with some key omissions, no "Ordinary World" for example. Disc one concentrates on their career from Brummie new romantics who were at best watercolor Japan. They did however stamp their own brand of hip with Malcolm Garrett sleeves and by calling the normally commonplace extended version "Night version," playing right into those romantics also inclined for a bit of dancing. Tracks from Rio, Ragged Tiger, and even the shock horror of Wild Boys are included. Due to the ripple of time and the fact that Duran Duran were always fashionable in the mainstream market, most songs have by now dated, although some sound better than the 1986 trend for stutter vocal treatment on "American Science" and on '88s "I Don't Want Your Love." "Skin Trade" and "Notorious" are pretty faithful to the originals. The set goes a bit AWOL toward the end with five tracks from Wedding; all are awful, except a semi-decent "Drowning Man." Best of the pack are "Violence of Summer," always an underestimated single, with lyrics narrated over pounding beat and repeat motif, complimented by a bridge adding what sounds like a drugged up gospel choir, female whimpering, and samples of the Barbarella flick making it a spellbinding listen; and Mark S Berry's take on "Meet El Presidenté" with manic percussion (the dub would have been a better choice though). ~ Kelvin Hayes
Two disc collection with 24 mixes of their hits from the '80s and '90s. When they started out, the Durannies were part of the New Romantic movement in the U.K. alongside bands like Spandau Ballet, Visage and Classix Nouveaux, playing gigs in small UK clubs. They successfully blended the smooth coolness of Bowie with the funky dance rhythms of Chic and created the Duran Duran sound. Within a year, they were teen idols playing arenas across the world. Includes the treasured 'Night Mixes' of flashback faves like 'Planet Earth', 'Girls On Film', 'My Own Way' and 'Hungry Like The Wolf', as well as remixes of gems like 'Too Much Information', 'Come Undone' and 'I Don't Want Your Love'. Double slimline jewelcase. EMI.

| Strange Behaviour Music Review Average Rating: (4.8 out of 5 stars) Absolutely Great!!! All Remix Version at 12" all the way down. No Sweat!...only thing is "Ordinary World" is not included in the extended remix version, the rest it's worth the price. A must to all collectors. Jay of Dgte. AWESOME CD FOR AN AWESOME 80'S GROUP! If you simply love 80's music, then this is
a must have doble CD with all the best songs
from Duran Duran in it's special versions.
For me, the best is CD1, the CD2 is also
great, but the first one has all the DD songs
with its original members. The only thing
that is missing is an extended version of
"Careless Memories".
All the 80's groups, specially New Romantics
era, must follow their steps and also make a doble CD with extended versions. Submitted by a reviewer (Lima, Peru) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
1st CD great, 2nd just OK If you are not really into unusual remixes, then you may be better off just buying "Essentials"- the 1st CD of Strange Behaviour is the same as Essentials with the inclusion of the New Moon remix (which is excellent, by the way). The 2nd CD has interesting remixes which may not be to everyone's liking, but I would highly recommend "American Science" if you're into their Notorious-era sound. P.S. look for their NEW album scheduled to be released sometime later this year- the original lineup is back! :) Submitted by a reviewer (Orlando, FL, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Great remixes of great songs These CD's contain great remixes of Duran Duran's best songs. They include different guitar/bass/synth parts not available on the albums versions. Would have loved to hear an extended/remix of Careless Memories. A must buy for nay real Duran Duran fan Submitted by Jim (Austin TX) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Strange Behaviour album
$9.79 Big Thing is Duran Duran's most disappointing album, mainly because the band sounds cold and extremely isolated from their music. Both "I Don't Want Your Love" and "All She Wants Is" made it into the Top 40, but the album only climbed as high as number 24 on the charts. For Big Thing, Duran Duran chose novelty over pop conventionalism, giving "I Don't Want Your Love" a tawdry, unkempt feel that does emit droplets of pop charm, while "All She Wants Is" grinds and clanks along with a rather unfavorable tempo, which gained most of its attention because of its ...

Strange Behaviour music CDs
$15.79 As part of its 1998 Obituary reissue campaign, Roadrunner released not only the albums themselves but also a pair of two-fers: Slowly We Rot/Cause of Death and The End Complete/World Demise. These two-fers feature not only the remastered sound of the reissues but also the same bonus tracks. Plus, they're quite a bargain relative to buying the albums individually. On the downside, you're stuck with typically unappealing two-fer artwork, and of course, you're stuck with two albums rather than one. This latter issue isn't such a big deal with these Obituary reissues because the partnered albums go together well. In the case of The End Complete/World Demise, you get the band's third and fourth albums, from 1992 and 1994, respectively. The former is a reunion album of sorts as lead guitarist Allen West returns to the fold after being absent for Cause of Death, and the band pulls together for what many consider the definitive Obituary album. Everything is excellent here: the vocals, the music, the songs, and for the first time, the production -- the whole package. Ask a number of fans, and many will tell you that this was the band's peak. Which of course means that many consider World Demise to be a step downward, and that would be an accurate assessment. By and large, it's more of the same, except the band doesn't seem quite ...
