Like many European pop stars, ABBA often remade their hits in languages other than English for further penetration into foreign markets. (Remember the Beatles' "Sie Liebt Dich"?) Throughout their eight-year career, ABBA remade many of their biggest hits in Spanish for the enormous Latin music community, and the results were collected in 1994 on ORO and MAS ORO (Spanish for Gold and More Gold), Spanish-language equivalents of the similarly-titled English-language compilations. ORO begins with the Spanish-language versions of ABBA's two most overtly Latin tunes, "Chiquitita" and "Fernando," and goes on to eight of ABBA's other biggest hits, including "Gracias Por La Musica (Thank You for the Music)," "Dame, Dame, Dame (Money Money Money)," and "Conociendome, Conociendote (Knowing Me, Knowing You)." The translations and performances are excellent, and ORO is of interest even to those who don't speak the language.

ELVIS' GOLDEN RECORDS, VOL. 3 is a compilation of singles released between 1960 and 1963.
Originally released in 1963, GOLDEN RECORDS VOLUME 3 contains nearly all of Elvis' top 10 hits released between his 1960 return from military service and early 1962. It was during this period that Elvis last topped the charts consistently; soon, the British invasion and a string of sub-par movie soundtracks would reduce both his stature and his record sales. GOLDEN RECORDS VOLUME 3 shows off the full range of Elvis' talent, with ballads ("Are You Lonesome Tonight?"), rockers ("Little Sister," "I Feel So Bad"), pop ("Stuck On You," "I Gotta Know") and even operatic songs ("It's Now Or Never," "Surrender") represented among the disc's twelve tracks. The album was issued on CD in 1989 and was subsequently remastered and re-reissued in 1997 with eight additional tracks.

In the film PRACTICAL MAGIC, Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock play two sisters who discover that they're both witches, blessed with magical powers. It's only natural then, that Stevie Nicks, who defined the rock-goddess-as-witch-queen image, should contribute two songs to the soundtrack. The spooky, Robert Johnson-meets-Donovan vibe of Nick Drake's "Black Eyed Dog" makes it a natural for inclusion as well. Less obvious selections include quintessential party tunes like Marvin Gaye's "Got To Give It Up" and Harry Nilsson's gloriously goofy "Coconut." However unlikely the aforementioned cuts might seem here, their inclusion helps make PRACTICAL MAGIC an eclectic, well-rounded affair.
