Indie 2000, Vol. 5 album
$11.18 With Adam Lambert, American Idol finally got a finalist who was completely, utterly contemporary, aware of what's hip in music and culture and aware of how music is made and consumed in 2009, never seeming to try to follow fads or set trends, just embodying the time. Mercifully, he came in second to Kris Allen, for if he came in first he may have had to tame his self-styled glamazon ways. A second place finish allowed Lambert to come out of the closet and indulge in his penchant for theater on his debut, For Your Entertainment -- which isn't quite the same thing as camp, for if Adam Lambert is anything, he's earnest about his dress-up, never winking at the audience because he doesn't think there's much funny about his glitter and mascara: that's just what pop stars are supposed ...

Indie 2000, Vol. 5 CD music
$13.65 Live Not On Evil is dark, guitar-heavy rock and roll. Over the past 3 years their haunting and melodic music has become a staple on goth, punk and deathrock stations across the globe while the band has blown away live audiences throughout the eastern United States. The band released it's first full length CD entitled "Lucky Stiff" in October of 2001. It received rave reviews and air-play internationally. Founding members, Rob Windfelder and John Begley continued performing with various musicians until deciding to make the permanent addition last fall of Norm Alger on guitar and, more recently, Eric Sauls on drums. The current line up played their first live show at the Knitting Factory in NYC on the final night of the annual Drop Dead Festival, Sept. 5, 2004. October 31st 2004 marks the release of their follow-up CD, "Next Time Nail it Shut". Like the first, it was recorded at Plan B Studios in Philadelphia by Darren Morze and promises to be an auditory experience dark rock fans aren't likely to forget.Live Not on Evil is distributed by SINister Records (www.SINisterRecords.com)-----------REVIEWS:"Based on the album art alone, you could be forgiven for thinking Live Not On Evil is a goth band. The ghostly image on the front, the skulls on the back, and singer Rob Windfelder's Misfits-inspired hairdo - it all kind of fits. Once you actually listen to this album, though, it becomes immediately apparent that this is straight up punk, not goth or even death rock, really. That's a good thing in this case, because this is a great album, packed with tight riffs and just the right blend of moodiness and aggression. Songs like "Love You To Death" and "End of Time" are hard, fast, and angry, with Windfelder's vocals betraying just enough snottiness to recall Jello Biafra. "Ghost In the Woods" and "The Great Escape" are slower and darker, with haunting guitar work that hints at metal influences. The most memorable song, though, is the more pop friendly "Broadway and Fulton," which features great sung melodies and an old-school hopelessness that recalls Mike Ness at his most cynical. Think Social Distortion if they were East Coast instead of West, and get this album if you're the least bit interested in the moody side of punk." -- Matthew Johnson, GraveConcerns Ezine"This will be the second CD I've received from garage punkers Live Not On Evil . The band retains it's hard-edged and rough-hewed sound in their latest offering, Next Time Nail it Shut, and the best comparison I can think of would be the heavier Bella Morte sounds or a Cult of the Psychic Fetus attitude with a bit more wall-of-sound musical style (the Fetus boys keeping their music somewhat simple). LNOE will smash their sounds together to create a very strong and sometimes dirty, un-tamed musical ...
