The Rory blueprint.
I first heard this album (my friend's brother had it) in the early seventies. I had no idea about Rory Gallagher (or Taste). All I knew was, this album rocked! From the opener on, Rory's wide ranging influences made for an exciting and varied ride. His blues based stuff burned ("What's Going On", "Morning Sun" etc ...), while jazz ("It's Happened Before ...") and folk ("See Here") equally impressed. In many ways, this was the high-water mark for Rory's creativity - you can sense his youthful enthusiasm and lack of restraint. After this his solo stuff became (slightly) less adventurous, and while this is not necessarily a bad thing, it's always interesting to reflect on "the artist as a young man". Essential listening for Rory fans!
