"""This 1981 debut just might be this quartet's strongest and most consistent album. Themes of male angst and communication blockages dominate in such songs as I Can't Talk To YouTrouble In My Brain and the single Happy Man. Embedded in the urgentfertile rock are pop hooks galore. Includes such gems as Alone With YouI'm Shakin' and Liar. Sadlythe once-beloved Sunnyboys are an almost forgotten entity today. There is no justice ...""" | Sunnyboys Music Review Average Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars) Best Aussie band ever The essence of THE most amazing live band is captured perfectly on this album. I still have my original LP, play it regularly. Every time I get the same excitement I felt at their gigs in the '80s. You just gotta have it! Pure pop for now people. Sunnyboys were a surf- friendly Aussie band, who in their career hatched some delightful uncomplicated rock. Fans who like them are quite passionate. This is the first album, and it has dated a little in sonic terms, but still energetic in performance. I recommend also "DISCIPLINE" and "LIVE" where the band get really good with their instruments, and an element of seriousness gives a new depth to it all. Play often and play loud. At Their Best This is the Sunnyboys at their best. For my money, the sound on this album is as vibrant as if they are there in from of you. You can just imagine the beers around the room and the freshness of the songs as if they were being written at that very point in time infront of you. The best hits are here. People who rave about this band do it because they mean it. Trust me. Buy this CD. Submitted by Les C (Sydney, Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Elliott Smith Xo CD (1998)
Sunnyboys music CDs
$11.99 The Cinderella-esque climb from lo-fi indie cult artist to Grammy nominee/major label darling must have been a perilous one for Smith, who makes the leap to the big time here after three well-regarded albums on small labels. He's lost none of his bite, though. The production values on XO may be slightly higher, but Smith's vision remains undiluted.
The production, centered around acoustic guitar augmented by keyboards and lush vocal harmonies, recalls pop icons like the Beach Boys (especially on the closing acapella cut), Beatles and Big Star, but this is no sunny Cali-pop album. Leavening the instrumental brightness are Smith's Nick Drake-ish whisper and his thoroughly downcast lyrics, which cast him squarely in the Mark Eitzel/Smog camp of unrelenting self-effacement and misery. The combination of Smith's internal angst and his melodic pop constructions makes for a ...
| | Elliott Smith Figure 8 CD (2000)
Sunnyboys songs
$11.99 On his first record since his Oscar nomination courtesy director Gus Van Zandt's use of his music in the film "Good Will Hunting," Elliott Smith returns with another album's worth of gorgeous misery. Like Nick Drake before him, Smith has the ability to conjure beautifully poignant pathos, wrapping it in an elaborately arranged package worthy of a George Martin or Brian Wilson. Working with Beck/Foo Fighters producer Rob Schnapf, Smith uses Abbey Road Studios for some of these sessions, dressing up his tortured lyrics with orchestral arrangements that avoid any hint of mawkishness.

| | Arcade Fire Funeral CD (2004)
Sunnyboys album
$12.05 This Montreal ensemble's fiery debut is marked by surging guitars, soulful strings, driving drums, brilliant bass lines, and the quavering vocals of married couple Win Butler and Regine Chassagne. The group's song structures careen through a vast territory of musical and personal history, with lyrics warm with memories of childhood neighborhoods and deceased loved ones, resulting in an alternating current of joy and sadness.
Favorably compared to the Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev, and Broken Social Scene, the Arcade Fire's sound seems to come from a lifetime of listening to the Cure, Talking Heads, Elvis Costello, and many others--even a dose of soul gets worked into these grand anthems. Chassagne delivers some spellbinding vocals on "Haiti," while the tinkling piano and strings on "Crown of Love" conjure up a heartbroken ...

Sunnyboys CD music
$25.19 A superstar in his native U.K., Robbie Williams hadn't reached a mainstream audience in the U.S. at the time of this 2004 compilation's release, a fact made bewildering by the slew of undeniably catchy, well-crafted pop songs on hand. While the sleek "Millennium" and the cheeky "Rock DJ" display the former Take That member's refreshingly sophisticated sonic sensibilities, the ballad "Angels" proves that his slightly raspy voice ...

| | Andrew John Sonic Paint CD (2009) (Import)
Sunnyboys CD music
$9.99 John Andrew (aka John Andrew Suchocki) was rescued from his early production of crystalline twee by the front man for the indie-pop band The Silent Boys who introduced JA to the sounds of Joy Division, Velvet Underground, The Smiths, Sonic Youth, The Cure, New Order, and such others. With his newly found awareness but palpable musical innocence, JA moved forward to become the lead guitarist for the Silent Boys and incognito on the recently invented political punk group Shattered Hopes all accessible through his independent recording label CProMusic.com. Parallel to these indie-pop adventures, John Andrew continued to refine his solo songwriting efforts. By 2005, cassettes gave way to CDs, four of which have since been produced. Echoes of his sentimental past have been hard to shake, but the result is a growing personal library that falls, amazingly enough, into the ear-pleasing genres ...
