| Chess In Concert Soundtrack Music Review Average Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars) Preview of the real event I'm going to the show tonight. I'll see what songs are used and which are not. This is the third version of "Chess" I have. This one is rare here. One new song is "The Soviet Machine", sung in a stereotypical accent, and uses part of "The Arbiter" from the original. Gemini, Sverige's answer to the Carpenters, are on this one. My least favourite track is "Heaven Help My heart", sung with less passion and charisma than Lady/Dame Elaine Paige ("Mrs." Tim Rice, the first Florence). Chess in Concert Chess in concert is wonderful to listen to. This live recording is not quite as wonderful because the live feeling is not really captured on this recording. This concert has been on the road for a couple of years in Sweden now and different choires and symphony orchestras have been engaged for different concerts and unfortunately this is not the best setting. Highly recommended for "Chess" fans. This is the live version of the London recording. It all sounds new again. You hear the crowd response, how much they love this show. The musicians are riffing on and sometimes improving on the original. Excellent. Submitted by a reviewer (Quincy, MA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Chess In Concert Soundtrack album
$50.15 DREAMS is a 4-CD box set compiling in chronological order tracks by the Allman Brothers Band, as well as tracks by bands featuring one or more member of the Allman Brothers Band and solo performances by Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts.
Recorded between 1966 & 1988. Includes a 32-page illustrated booklet and liner notes by John Swenson.
Like nearly all box sets, DREAMS has plenty to recommend it-and a few nagging drawbacks. The set's chief shortcoming is its two conflicting goals: providing an overview of the Allmans' history, thus attracting buyers seeking the ultimate hits package, and including enough unreleased tracks and rarities to appeal to the band's most devoted fans. As a result, DREAMS is neither the definitive Allman Brothers collection nor the gift to hardcore fans that, say, THE BOOTLEG SERIES is to Dylan-philes.
DREAMS' strengths are considerable. First and foremost, the box contains nearly five wall-to-wall hours of great music. By including everything from early demos to Gregg Allman and Dickie Betts' solo material, DREAMS does a great job of tracing the group's musical evolution from hippie blues band to kings of Southern rock. And, while the unreleased studio version of "Statesboro Blues" included here isn't definitive, it's still mighty good-as are the set's other rarities. Start your Allman Brothers collection with THE FILLMORE CONCERTS; if that grabs you, ...

There's been no shortage of Doors compilations over the years, but this two-disc 2003 collection is looking like the one to beat. It spans the seminal band's entire (though admittedly brief) career, and perhaps most importantly, it goes well beyond the usual hits and radio fodder. LEGACY digs deep into the Doors' catalog, fully capturing the mysterious beauty and hypnotic intensity of their work. Naturally all the standards are included ("Light My Fire," "Love Me Two Times," "Hello, I Love You," etc.), and truth be told those are fully as majestic as their more obscure brethren, whether or not they've been overplayed throughout the decades.
It's a pleasure to scour the less traveled corners via the poetic-yet-visceral "Peace Frog," the twisted carnival of souls that is "Not to Touch the Earth," and the mystical narrative of "Celebration of the Lizard." "Strange Days" is true psychedelia, full of transcendent intrigue and absent of flower-power nostalgia. "Tell All the People" is ...

Chess In Concert Soundtrack music CDs
$9.79 Renowned director Lars Von Trier's stroke of genius in making his 2000 film DANCER IN THE DARK was to cast Iceland-born avant-pop siren Bjork in the central role and then enlist her aid in composing and performing a series of musical numbers for the movie. In the film, Bjork's character Selma lives an unrelentingly hard life as a single mother and factory worker who is quickly going blind. The film's songs come from Selma's inner world, where she (and the audience) find respite from all the harshness of reality.
Bjork's compositions, with orchestral arrangements from Vince Mendoza, hang together on their own quite nicely. Catherine Deneuve (Bjork's co-star) and Radiohead's Thom Yorke make effective vocal cameos, but Bjork's voice and music are the central focus. As we hear the industrial sounds of the factory turn into the rhythm of a song, or follow Bjork's oddly intuitive melodic leaps through a dreamlike haze of strings, it becomes clear that her idiosyncratic writing ...
