This is a collection of NOFX tracks from various compilations, 7"s and EPs, plus a previously unreleased song and dub remix. NOFX are masters of the punk ethic of self-deprecation, and it begs the question if they truly realize the mark they have made on the history of modern hardcore. After 18 years, the band that sums up its musical prowess humbly as "good," releases a staggering collection of B-sides, compilation tracks, and rare cuts (many of which were previously long out-of-print in their original 7" pressings). A cover of the Seymour Simons standard "All Of Me" sets the tone for this collection, and boasts an attitude that really says it all; this band lives for doing things their way. It's easy to see how a song such as "Lazy" could have spawned many of the late-'90s neo-ska bands. MXPX also sneaks in a ska treatment of the song made famous by Metallica, "Last Caress." A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away ... a band was born for the sole purpose for entertaining guests at a 50th birthday party for one of their dads. This once-in-a-lifetime event was called AFS2k, and the guests were excited. Maybe the excitement was aimed at the 300lb Elvis there to sing and dance for them. The band was amped - this was their time to shine! No one could deny the power of old-school music like Elvis and Otis Redding. The minidisc was set to record. They stepped up to the microphone and the rest is history.Thankfully, the minidisc of that night has long since disappeared, possibly going down in the annals of music as one of the worst recorded performances in the history of music. Their dreams of being one of the greatest 50s/60s cover bands were now gone forever. They had to rethink their purpose in life.
