As enthralled to the world of underground black music as Primal Scream's lead henchman, Carter's unrelenting pressure of huge dancefloor ragga and dirty beats makes for one of the most ludicrously addictive dance compilations ever released. The level of variety is riveting. Not many DJs would ever compose a fluid mix of Buddha Baboons, Slo Moshun, and DJ Voodoo with such genre-defying pleasure. The breaks feel hard, not gimmicky. In a little over an hour, it's hard to not to recognize Jon Carter as one of the preeminent musicians to ever fall under the much divisive big beat banner. The only real crime committed is the stinging absence of Carter's own Monkey Mafia project or even a blip of his Junior Cartier house persona. No matter, though: With a pedigree of Afro-centric stormers and an assault on the dance world's citizenry, Carter is on fire.
