| | Dolly Parton 9 To 5 And Odd Jobs CD - Import Dolly Parton Discography of CDs
Digitally remastered by Elliott Federman (SAJE Sound, New York, New York).
Dolly Parton was a crossover superstar when she recorded this album--the infectious title song, which she wrote, was the theme from the movie of the same name, in which she made her acting debut. Not suprisingly, much of the album is chart oriented state-of-the-art early '80s pop fluff, but Parton still finds time to flash her country and folk roots.
Standout tracks include a terrific cover of Mel Tillis' "Detroit City," a riveting version of Woody Guthrie's classic migrant worker anthem "Deportee (Plane Wreck at Los Gatos)," a surprisingly fresh take on "House of the Rising Sun," and an impassioned run through of Merle Travis' "Dark As a Dungeon."
Import only digitally remastered reissue of the Country icon's hit 1980 album. No matter what style of music one listens to, almost every music lover has a soft spot for the talented Miss Parton and her ace songwriting skills and that voice! 9 To 5 & Odd Jobs features ten tracks including the double Grammy Award title track and cover versions of 'The House Of The Rising Son' and Woody Gutherie's 'Deportee (Plane Wreck At Los Gatos)'. Includes restored packaging and new liner notes. BMG.

Blender (Magazine) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "Parton pulls off roles as wide-ranging as penniless bluegrass mother and a disco-pop prostitute with interpretive skills as sharp and specific as her songwriting." 9 To 5 And Odd Jobs Music Dolly Parton 9 To 5 And Odd Jobs Songs 9 To 5 And Odd Jobs Music 9 To 5 And Odd Jobs Review

9 To 5 And Odd Jobs CD music
$20.09 Raven's 2006 two-fer combines the first two albums Tammy Wynette released after her 1969 Greatest Hits LP: 1969's The Ways to Love a Man and 1970's Tammy's Touch. Although neither of these are quite as iconic in their titles (and title songs) as Your Good Girl's Gonna Go Bad or D-I-V-O-R-C-E or Stand by Your Man, these are excellent records in their own right and can be seen as portraits of the queen at the peak of her reign.
The Ways to Love a Man found her and producer Billy Sherrill at cruising altitude, delivering an album that easily replicated the sound and feel of Stand by Your Man. If anything, the album felt a bit too easy, as Sherrill began making his productions smoother and silkier, sanding away any of the lingering rough country edges that were on Stand by Your Man, giving Tammy's impeccably luxurious surroundings. It's an appropriate setting for the First ...

9 To 5 And Odd Jobs album
$12.65 From 1994 to 2002, The Providers rocked clubs throughout Connecticut (with occasional jaunts to New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, and Kenyon College in Ohio) with an intelligent and danceable blend of rock 'n' roll, blues, rockabilly and country that earned praise from audiences and critics alike. A restless sense of musical exploration led the band to share bills with acts as disparate as John Mayall, The Radiators, De La Soul, They Might Be Giants, Johnny Winter, NRBQ, Ronnie Earl, Roomful of Blues and The Slip over the course of eight years together. Recorded and mixed in a big barn in the woods of Webatuck, NY by longtime compadre Mel Paskell, The Providers' only CD release "Open For Business" is a fine reflection of the band's willingness and ability to experiment with a wide sonic palate, and both reinforces and reshapes the traditional notions of what blues-based ...
