 "9 To 5" Re-issue CD Is Worth A Buy!
Dolly Parton's iconic 1980 album "9 To 5 And Odd Jobs" has just been re-issued on CD to coincide with the premiere of "9 To 5 The Musical" on Broadway. This album has been available for purchase quite a few times since its initial release, however this issue contains something extra that previous releases did not. The album features liner notes, song lyrics, original album art and still photos from the original 1980 film. Also, this release contains three extra songs which include the Love To Infinity remix[which was a hit in the U.K. last year] and a new karaoke version of the title track and Dolly's unreleased cover version of Sly and the Family Stone's classic "Everyday People." For that reason alone the album is worth purchasing; Dolly definately does the song justice. The album stands as a tribute to working people with Dolly's "9 To 5" acting as the center piece. There is Bobby Bare's "Detroit City" about the woes of leaving home to work in the automobile industry. Then there's Merle Travis' lonesome ballad "Dark As A Dungeon" which warns of the dangers cole miners face. Also, the album contains another highlight as Dolly covers and reworks the standard "Hush-A-Bye Hard Times" about a mother wondering if she will have enough money to buy food and clothes for her daughter and enough money to fend off the "wolf at the door." If you are a Dolly fan chances are you already have this or will buy it, but if you're not and you are undecided let me assure you: you will not be disappointed with this album. It is well-worth purchasing and adding to your music library.
