33 yearsof Schenker
I'm 48 this August and vividly recall driving my '72 Toyota Celica at age 16 with a lime green colored 8 track tape in a Sanyo tape player entitled UFO/Phenomenon. Along with the first Montrose release, these were my 2 favorites. I wore that UFO tape out primarily because I was an aspirimg rock guitarist myself. Trust me when I say rock guitar absolutely does not get any more class nor does it get any more classic.

Landmark album for UFO
UFO's sound was defined by this album which introduced Michael Schenker. It marked their move away from a highly experimental sound into some well written, solid songs with lots of opportunities for the musicans to show what they were capable of. A great place to start for curious music fans.
The start of a great number of albums to come.

Essential, but Where's the Bass?
After this one they only had to perfect their craft as all the elements were finally in place. This is THE essential UFO album.
As for the production, I don't remember it being so bass-less, but I can deal with that.

Essential listening
"Rock Bottom" is an ALL-TIME classic, I don't think any hard rock/metal fan would dispute that. Although this is not as hard as its follow-up ("Force It") the guitar playing is "phenomenal!" "Too Young to Know" has some incredible guitar playing, as does "Oh My." Quite frankly, if one listens to the guitar solos, EACH song on this album, I mean cd, is worth it. Schenker has indicated that solos are his favorite part of a song, and it shows
