In the early '90s it seemed the radio could not get enough of Mr.Big's power ballad "To Be With You." With the rise of rap and short-hair rock, Mr.Big eventually disappeared from the airwaves. It seems that their fan base has not, however, so they have released a collection of their ballads (complete with short hair), including the big radio hit that grabbed them a lot of attention from non-rock audiences. Guitarist Dave Mustaine was an original member of thrash-pioneers Metallica. But he was booted from the band during the recording of that band's debut album, KILL 'EM ALL. Instead of moping around, Mustaine returned to California and immediately formed another group--Megadeth. Dan Shull is a Performer/Producer/Writer who also records his eclectic mix of Smooth Jazz/R&B/Pop music at his recording studio, Wit's End, for his Indie Label, Earitation Records. Growing up in a musical family, Dan Shull began studying a wide range of instruments at a very early age. Influenced by the Soul/R&B/Pop and Jazz of the 60’s & 70’s Dan was composing and scoring for both his self & others in his early teens. By age 16 he was simultaneously playing Guitars, Bass, & Saxophone in numerous Rock, Soul & Jazz groups, including Alto Sax with the 16-PC Bob Haas Orchestra. The Peter Thorpe Memorial Fund marked its first anniversary in March 2004, and in its first year has provided various forms of assistance and encouragement to independent artists throughout the U.S. and to visitors from as far away as Great Britain and Australia.The title cut, "Blue Train," is by Nashville Fats (Peter Thorpe) and is one of his last recorded songs. It is from "Nickel and Dime Poet," his final CD, released just months before his death. "Blue Train" was selected as the title cut for this compilation by Fats' friends, who find spiritual comfort in his opening words "I'm ready to roll!!" Nashville Fats' CD, "God's Country," is currently available at cdbaby.com/nashvillefats "Freddie's Blues," an instrumental by the Blues Allstars, was recorded in Nashville in the Fall of 2002. The Allstars are an international group of bluesmen who met online. All were chart-topping blues artists on MP3.com.
