Cafe Del Mar Volume Seven
$12.69 Anne Deming moved from Chicago to Minneapolis in 1999. Already a rising star in Chicago, she played her first show in Minneapolis at New Band Night at the 7th St. Entry in November of 1999 on the same bill as Armpit Vagina and Screaming Monkey Boner. An interesting start to an interesting career.Anne started in the coffee shops around the Twin Cities, but quickly found her way to the clubs and larger venues. Her first CD "Beautifully Scarred" was released in July of 2000. The album featured Anne playing 13 original songs varying in style from acoustic rock, to folk, to blues. The album "Beautifully Scarred" was self-released on her own label ("Brutally Honest Records") and was well received by the music fans in the Twin Cities, and was selected for participation in the Best Buy "Find 'em First" promotion. Several tracks from her CD were receiving regular airplay on Minneapolis commercial radio station WXPT during November of 2000. She immediately made an impact on the local Minneapolis music scene, and found her home in the Twin Cities. Anne's second CD was released in June 2001. The album, entitled "Naked Pictures Inside", was recorded, engineered, and produced by Anne at her home studio. It was initially recorded as a demo to recruit a band, but she (and her fans) liked the sound of the "demo" so much that it ended up to be another successful release. Although not a high enough sound quality for radio use, the CD remains as the favorite of her fan base, and showcases some of Anne's most diverse influences. In 2002, Anne returned to the studio, teaming up with Brian Johnson and Scott LeGere of Echobay Productions (a team well known for producing songs for such artists as David Gray, Craig David, Cowboy Junkies, and Natalie Merchant). The team approached Anne with a "producing" deal where Anne recorded more than 30 songs acoustically. Brian and Scott then picked four of their favorite songs to produce and add more layers to the music as a showcase item for their company's services. Anne's acoustic music took on a whole new style, and the finished EP, "On Display" is a CD that showcases Echo Bay's vision for Anne's music . . . with the original acoustic ...

$13.69 ORGONE by definition is a cosmic unit of energy, the creative force in nature. The band ORGONE is many souls with a cosmic connection, a natural creative force. The musicians of ORGONE have played together for the past 10 years; self schooled, shaping their musical voice as a solid unit of guys who hang, spin records, and jam out their shared inspirations. Orgone and it's members have recently played and toured for the Pharcyde, Little Brother, Pharoahe Monch, Black Sheep, Too Short, Nice & Smooth, Plantlife, Bun B, and the Breakestra. Whenever they've had the chance between gigs, they've gotten together to play the stuff they all hold close to their hearts and share a deep love for, putting their own gritty take on tunes by the likes of the JBs, the Meters, Grant Green, Booker T. & the MGs, Funkadelic, & Mandrill, just to name a few. With a rooted sense of funk, R&B, reggae, and rock, and an intimate understanding of each others playing, ORGONE can take a song or spontaneous jam and twist it into something new and exciting every time they play it. ORGONE slides through style and dynamic changes seamlessly and effortlessly, continuously injecting whatever they play with their own heavy brand of raw funk power. Their debut self titled cd "ORGONE" and live show is laced with the aspects of dj culture, afro beat, soul, jazz, and experimental funk wizardry. Down home, transcendental, tough, gritty funk... ORGONE is a road trip from New Orleans to Memphis: New York soul jazz to the new West Coast funky jam band scene. Wanna ride?Recent Hype:"Sounding much like a cross between The Dap-Kings and Breakestra, L.A.’s Orgone keeps the hotness of the recent retro-soul revival coming; lead singer Fanny Franklin fits in very nicely between Sharon Jones and Amy Winehouse. As befits the band’s name, Orgone’s sound is quite organic, rooted in soul, funk, boogaloo, ...
