Produced by Roy Z (Rob Halford, Bruce Dickenson), this 2000 recording from the prolific metalist finds them once again paying unconscious, yet successful homage to Iron Maiden. Features 13 tunes, including the bonus track "Madness Of The Crowds."
One of the most appropriate album titles in metal history, Helloween's 10th full-length release is exactly what it says. The German quintet's first album for Nuclear Blast sees the band break from its traditional pomp-and-romp power metal leanings and experiment with a more dramatic (and less humorous) songwriting approach. Produced and engineered by melodic metal masterminds Roy Z. (Halford, Bruce Dickinson) and Charlie Bauerfeind (Blind Guardian, HammerFall), THE DARK RIDE breathes new, gritty life into the Helloween canon--with a sinister sneer.
Japanese version of the German metal act's 2000 album. Released one week earlier than the European and no domestic is currently scheduled it includes one bonus track, 'The Madness Of The Crowds' and the singles, 'If I Could Fly' and 'Mr. Torture'. 2000 release. Standard jewelcase.

In the early '80s, a new musical movement, dubbed "The New Wave of British Metal," swept across England. The conspirators include such heavy bands as Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Saxon, and Def Leppard, but Judas Priest is often credited as the originator and leader of the pack. Rob Halford's vocal histrionics and the dual guitar attack of K.K. Downing and Glen Tipton mesmerized metal-heads everywhere. While Priest had been together since the early-'70s, the band's big U.S. breakthrough came with 1982's SCREAMING FOR VENGEANCE.
Like most other metal bands that broke through in the early '80s (Motley Crue, Twisted Sister, etc.), Judas Priest took advantage of the then-developing video medium. MTV put the clip for "You Got Another Thing Coming" in heavy rotation, and the song became one of heavy metal's all-time classic anthems. Other album tracks, such as "The Hellion," "Electric Eye," "(Take These) Chains," "Devil's Child," and the title composition, were all prime metal cuts. With its perfect balance of heavy riffing and melodicism, SCREAMING FOR VENGEANCE is considered by many to be among the finest heavy metal albums ever made.

Dark Ride
$10.25 This is part of Blue Note's Limited Edition Connoisseur series.
No Hank Mobley collection would be complete without STRAIGHT NO FILTER, a gathering of extra cuts from many of his mid '60s Blue Note sessions. The first three tracks come from a 1966 session, next are two cuts from Mobley's THE TURNAROUND session, the third session was originally cut for the classic NO ROOM FOR SQUARES, and finally, two tracks are culled from a 1963 date.
As expected, the music is vibrant, energetic, and swinging. The unifying element, of course, is Mobley's muscular, round tone. He swings hard throughout and rips off one strong solo after another. This collection is notably made up entirely of Mobley's original compositions, reminding us of his equally great hard bop writing skills. In the end, these formerly superfluous tracks give us an even more complete picture of a hard bop giant.

$12.69 One Accord is a contemporary worship band at Faith Lutheran Ministries in Lincoln, Nebraska, where they have served since 1999. Blessed with an abundance of original worship songs and creative pop-rock updates of traditional Lutheran hymns, they previously released the studio album "Shelter On The Way" in 2002 and have distributed their worship resources at no charge (see below.) In 2005, the 8-year old son of One Accord vocalist David Loewe was stricken with cancer, which, while treatable, threatened ruin to a family without health insurance. To help raise funds, a selection from a several month's worth of tracks mixed and recorded directly to CD during worship services at Lincoln, Nebraska's Faith Lutheran Church was reviewed and remastered to compile this live album. Without overdubs, remixes, or second takes, it is vividly "real": there are rough edges musically and technically, but also wonderfully heartfelt performances. From the raucous run-away "Go Tell It On The Mountain" to the yearning "Today Your Mercy Calls Us"; from the tender "Baby in a Barn", to the exultant gospel-fueled revisiting of "Praise To The Lord, The Almighty" that wraps up the album, styles include straight rock, jazz, a capella gospel quartet, African-American gospel, and mainstream pop.The title refers to Jesus Christ, the Living One; also to Ian Loewe, who by God's grace is also still alive; and to the fact that this is our first live CD.This album also provides a large selection from the songs in the "One Accord Hymnbook", available free online at http://hymnbook.marxhausen.net . This project distributes sheet music, lyrics, multimedia, and other resources for a growing list of contemporary hymn re-arrangements and new worship music in a variety of ...
