Disc 1 of this 2-CD set is an Enhanced audio CD which contains regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.

Following a successful collaboration at a 1999 London benefit show, it made perfect sense for Jimmy Page to invite the Black Crowes to be his back-up band for a mini-tour later that year. Recorded during a pair of sold-out shows at Los Angeles' Greek Theatre, these sets are dominated by Led Zeppelin tunes, along with a mix of classic blues nuggets and covers of Fleetwood Mac and Page's first group, The Yardbirds. (Due to contractual obligations, no Crowes songs are included here).

Chris Robinson's soulful singing ably fills in for Robert Plant's caterwaul, particularly with the sinister "In My Time of Dying" and the bluesy drawl of Willie Dixon's "You Shook Me." Guitarists Rich Robinson and Audley Freed provide stellar sounding layers of depth behind Page's playing, whether on the chiming "Hey Hey What Can I Do," or the hard-hitting swagger of "Nobody's Fault But Mine." From the non-Zeppelin material, the Crowes and Page soar on covers of the B.B. King shuffle "Woke Up This Morning" and the Chicago blues stomp of Jimmy Rogers' "Sloppy Drunk."

Japanese version includes the US bonus track, 'Mellow Down Easy' as well as two more exclusive tracks to this Japanese pressing, 'In The Light' & 'Misty Mountain Hop'. 22 tracks in total, includes a bonus sticker to the initial pressing only and also includes a bonus lyrics booklet!

Recorded live at the Greek Theatre, Los Angeles, California.

The Japanese edition includes additional tracks.

Personnel: Jimmy Page (guitar); Chris Robinson (vocals); Rich Robinson (guitar, background vocals); Audley Freed (guitar); Ed Harsch (keyboards); Sven Pipien (bass); Steve Gorman (drums).Rolling Stone (4/27/00, p.69) - 3 stars out of 5 - "...The combination is a win-win....The stomping treatments of Zep's tortured blues [prod] Page into the kind of fury that used to be a nightly routine....simultaneously raucous and faithful..."
Uncut (10/00, p.86) - 4 stars out of 5 - "...A live double album's worth of Zep's greatest guttural roars and stormtrooping stanzas..."
Mojo (Publisher) (9/00, p.103) - "...The most conservative rock'n'roll record of the year...and probably also the most enjoyable..."
NME (Magazine) (8/5/00, p.29) - 7 out of 10 - "...A work of licksmanship....Guitar tech album of the year, and a whole lotta irony-trashing fun besides."

5 stars The Best at Their Best
This album is an amazing showcase for Jimmy Page and the Black Crowes. Page hasn't sounded this good in years, and one can't help but to wonder if playing with a young, high-energy band didn't help him kick it up a notch. But the Crowes really shine on this live album. They way the espertly nalied the Zep catalog on short notice and pulled it off with all the emotion and conviction of the originals is amazing. Chris Robinson sounds even better on these songs than Plant did, and Steve Gorman matches the great John Bonham stroke for stroke. Easliy one of the best live albums ever.

4 stars good one
Loved the Zep tunes, not convinced by the bluesy standards. It's probably worth 4.5 - live albums don't get much better really.

5 stars Excellent stuff but Plant still rules
This is a meeting of minds and generations and it works beautifully. The Crowes are obviously big Zeppelin fans. Let's face it: anybody claiming to be a Rock musician cannot deny the massive debt owed to Led Zeppelin. Chris Robinson is a fantastic singer and, yes, he does do these wonderful titles justice (you can hear the sincere affection in every syllable uttered) but Plant was the original and still the best. His was a voice of incomparable strength and beauty,a uniqueness that defies description. This is an excellent Rock album that no fan of Jimmy Page or The Black Crowes can really be without.

Amazing, Robinson sounds (gasp) better then Plant on any live Led Zep recording I have heard. A must have for every Led Zep fan.
