Lemon Incest album
$9.99 Nine of the 10 tracks feature main songwriter Stuart Murdoch's winsome vocals, a mix of acoustic and electric instrumentation and a grab-bag of pianos, horns, flutes, and hand claps. The odd one out of the bunch is "Electronic Renaissance", an electronic keyboard knockabout that recalls Depeche Mode's more insistent moments from the Vince Clarke era. Standouts among the other tracks are "Expectations," the tale of a square peg at school who is "known for being strange/Making life-size models of the Velvet Underground in clay," the lyrically wistful but musically charged "She's Losing It," and "I Don't Love Anyone," which references Felt, a band Belle & Sebastian cites among its influences.
CD debut/ reissue of the acclaimed Scottish indie pop/ folk group's 1996 album, their first. The record was previously only available as a vinyl-only ...

| | Shins Chutes Too Narrow CD (2003)
Lemon Incest music CDs
$12.29 Recorded in James Mercer's Basement, Portland, Oregon and Avasti Studio, Seattle, Washington.
When the Shins bowled over music fans and critics alike in 2001 seemingly out of nowhere (but actually out of Albuquerque and years of playing together) with OH, INVERTED WORLD, their stunningly beautiful debut, the comparisons came pouring in. Scribes likened their insistent, melodic sound and James Mercer's hyper-literate, oblique but mellifluous lyrics to many mostly anachronistic, all deeply revered sources, including everything from the Beach Boys to Love.
The follow-up, CHUTES TOO NARROW, meets and often manages to exceed the tremendous, burgeoning buzz surrounding it. Mercer and co. retain all the elements that made their debut delectable, as the melodies flow hither and thither, a subtle rapture confident in its ability to entrance. Delicately crafted yet explosively poetic lines again abound (such as "secretly I want to bury in the yard the grey remains of a friendship scarred"), and by the time the sing-a-long of "So Says I" kicks in, the die is cast. Nestled near the end of the consistently captivating record is the countrified should-be classic "Gone for Good." With its riding-the-rails ...

| | 2001: A Space Odyssey Blu-ray (1968) Widescreen; Dubbed; Remastered; Special Edition; Subtitled
Lemon Incest CD music
$22.79 A four-million-year-old black monolith is discovered on the moon, and the government (while hiding the situation from the public) sends a team of scientists on a fact-finding mission. Eighteen months later, another team is sent to Jupiter in a ship controlled by the perfect HAL 9000 computer to further investigate the giant object--but on this trip something goes terribly wrong.
2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY is a masterpiece of filmmaking. Director and (with Arthur C. Clarke) co-screenwriter Stanley Kubrick has created a visual and aural spectacle that stands as one of the greatest achievements ever put on celluloid. The film begins with the "Dawn of Man" segment, about the evolution of apes, and then ventures into the future, taking a look at what the world might be like in the first year of the 21st century. Kubrick's film is a triumph of technological storytelling, with stunning sets and a brilliant, overwhelming soundtrack. Long dialogue-free ...
| | Joe Henderson Page One CD (1963) Remastered
Lemon Incest music CDs
$9.99 The Rudy Van Gelder Edition of PAGE ONE includes an essay by Bob Blumenthal.
Digitally remastered using 24-bit technology by Rudy Van Gelder (1998, Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey).
This is part of the Blue Note Rudy Van Gelder Editions series.
The title PAGE ONE is fitting for this disc as it marks the beginning of the first chapter in the long career of tenor man Joe Henderson. And what a beginning it is; no less than Kenny Dorham, McCoy Tyner, Butch Warren, and Pete La Roca join the saxophonist for a stunning set that includes "Blue Bossa" and "Recorda Me," two works that would be forever associated with Henderson. Both are bossa novas that offer a hip alternative to the easy-listening Brazilian trend that would become popular with the masses. Henderson and Dorham make an ideal pair on these and other choice cuts like the blistering "Homestretch" and the engaging swinger "Jinrikisha." These both show the already mature compositional prowess that would become Henderson's trademark throughout his legendary career. The final blues number, "Out of the Night," features powerful work by the leader that ...

| | Davila 666 CD (2008)
Lemon Incest album
$11.89 A storming garage-punk combo from Puerto Rico, Davila 666 are equally rooted in the contemporary Rock En Espanol scene and the NUGGETS school of classic proto-punk. Songs like "Dimelo Ya" are filled with alternately jangling and fuzz-toned guitars, handclaps, and tough, snotty teenage-boys-in-heat vocals. Only the fact that the lyrics are in Spanish separates DAVILA 666 from the rest of the modern garage-rock scene. DAVILA 666 is available as ...
