The Gordon Stone Band plays original music focusing on composition, interaction and improvisation. They combine bluegrass and jazz, blended with Latin, world beat and funk in tunes ranging from laid back grooves to high energy musical excursions. " The music will lift you up.1992, '93 Gordon records on Phish releases, "Picture of Nectar" and "Rift" and plays live shows with them.1994 The Gordon Stone Trio is formed with Jazz Mandolin Project's Jamie Masefield and Stacy Starkweather.1995-'97 CDs "Scratchin the Surface" and "Touch and Go" are released featuring Gordon's compositions and many of Vermont's finest musicians. Gordon Stone Band plays at Phish's , "Clifford Ball", "Great Went" and "Lemonwheel" festivals. They also share bills with "Strangefolk", "Tony Trischka" and Grammy winner "Alisson Krauss".1998 release of "Even with the Odds" is acclaimed by the Gannett Press as "instrumental album of the year." Gordon Stone Band receives "Best Bluegrass Performer/Artist Award" from Good Citizen's Vermont Music Poll. Gordon records on Strangefolk release "Weightless in Water".1999 The Gordon Stone Band records Gordon's original film score for the movie "Mud Season". The film is an official entry at "Slamdance" and wins best picture at both the Pasadena and Silver Strand film festivals.2000 -'01 GSB's recording of "Runaway Jim" is included on the Mockingbird Foundation benifit compilation CD "Sharin' in the Groove", celebrating the music of Phish. Other artists on the disc include Dave Mathews, Arlo Guthrie, Jimmy Buffett, Little Feat and more. Russ tours w/Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio, on his acoustic/electric tours. GSB releases their new CD "Red Room". "Seven Days" said "Red Room proves once again that Gordon Stone is one of the most impressive musicians to ever come out of northern Vermont". Gordon records on The Nields "Love and China" 2002 GSB releases 3 Live discs with rockslide.com. Gordon joins side project's "Al and the Transamericans", who are: Al and Vinny from moe., Erik Glockler from Strangefolk, and Kirk Juhas. They record an album in Richmond VA at David Lowry's studio. "This fellow has something to say." Laurie LewisAfter beginning like so many of us with piano lessons as a kid, Mark Kreitzer soon fell in love with various musical styles and instruments. In addition to being an award winning multi-instrumentalist, he is also an accomplished, award winning songwriter and member of the Minnesota Rock and Country Hall of Fame as a member of the Middle Spunk Creek Boys. Mark also is a BMI publisher, known as Harvest Hop Musik. He has also formed The Mark Kreitzer Band!Mark is nearing his fourth decade on stages around the midwest and the world, including appearances at folk and bluegrass festivals, concerts, on television and radio, including the Prairie Home Companion. He has recorded with such bands as The Clearwater Hot Club, The Middle Spunk Creek Boys, The Wisconsin River Bluegrass Boys, Harmonious Wail and numerous others. He has shared the stage with Tom Paxton, Alan Munde, Joe Carr, Don Stiernberg and Tony Trishka, Becky Schlegel, Brian Wicklund and Chris Silver. Mark's songs have been recorded by Joe Carr and Alan Munde, The Middle Spunk Creek Boys, Becky Schlegel and the Sparetime Bluegrass Band.Not content to rest on his musical laurels, Mark has also become an award winning teacher. With a Master's Degree in German and another in French, Mark has taught in Universities both here and abroad and has been recognized by his departments and students alike as an outstanding teacher. Currently, Mark teaches Songwriting at Cretin-Derham Hall High School in St. Paul, MN. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Carleton College in Northfield, MN, where he teaches guitar, mandolin, fiddle, banjo, Dobro and bass.
