| | Best Of Southern Blues CD
It's a bit absurd to think that this brief ten-song collection actually features the best of Southern blues, although all of the tracks included are certainly good ones, particularly Lightnin' Hopkins' "Found My Baby Crying," a loping version of Elmore James doing his signature "Dust My Broom" and a powerful "My Baby" by Lowell Fulson. Throw in solid cuts by Memphis Slim, T-Bone Walker and Bobby Rush and a nice little sequence takes shape, but it hardly adds up to an essential Southern blues record. ~ Steve Leggett

Best Of Southern Blues
$14.95 Tinsley Ellis has worked hard since the early 1980s to establish himself on the contemporary blues scene. As a result, he has become one of the most consistent, and therefore quintessential, electric blues men. He's also a good songwriter in that he stretches the blues form as far as it will go, and occasionally ...

Best Of Southern Blues
$7.59 Keyboards dominate the arrangements, with Rundgren, longtime cohort Mark "Moogy" Klingman, and session-man Ralph Schuckett all contributing piano, organ, and vintage '70s-style clavinet. The songs themselves are quirkier and more exploratory than earlier efforts, with the progressive and fusion influences that would dominate Rundgren's forthcoming band Utopia rearing their heads. Yet, at its best, TODD still comes across as a pop album, with soulful gems like "I Think You Know" and snarling rockers like "Heavy Metal Kids" predominating. Listeners looking for more ear-pleasing pop on the order of SOMETHING/ANYTHING? may be surprised by the musical ...
| | Muddy Waters Mojo: Live Collection 1971-76 CD (2000) (Import) Germany; Remastered; Australia
Best Of Southern Blues
$9.99 Muddy Waters (McKinley Morganfield) was and is the King of the Chicago blues. He was the first to electrify the blues he and others brought from the deep South, thereby laying the groundwork for future blues and rock & roll bands. Many of his songs have become standards, some of which are included on MOJO, a collection of live recordings from 1971 and 1976.
Here, Muddy is at the height of his powers: a supremely confident voice that mixes hard-times grit with swaggering confidence and authority. The recording quality is fine and the band features ...

OK, alright, that's it. We really mean it this time. The Ramones are gone for good. No more leather jackets, two-minute songs or counting off "1-2-3-4." After 22 years, 2263 shows, 19 albums and eight members, the band credited with kicking off the punk revolution called it quits. WE'RE OUTTA HERE is their final farewell. Recorded in Los Angeles, this live album packs together 32 songs including Ramones classics ("Blitzkrieg Bop," "I Wanna Be Sedated"), favorite covers ("Do You Wanna Dance"), and goofy cartoon themes ("Spiderman").
Naturally enough, famous friends and fans such as Lemmy Kilmister, Eddie Vedder, Rancid members Tim Armstrong and Lars Frederiksen, and Soundgarden's Chris Cornell and Ben Shepard line up to ...
