"Peaches & Cream" was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal.
The 4-part harmony of Bad Boy's vocal group 112 can catch any listener's ear, and when they're matched with some of R&B's hottest producers, the quartet can do no wrong. On their third album PART III, 112's songs serve two timeless purposes: to highlight their singing abilities, and to make people dance.
Though "It's Over Now" recycles the background to the Mobb Deep classic "Quiet Storm," 112's vocals add another dimension to the familiar beat. And on "Dance With Me," they provide yet another hot club song for the ladies. But ultimately it's their ballads that have the most impact, on songs like "I Surrender," and "Do What You Gotta Do."

112 Part III album
$8.75 Raised in the projects of Chicago's South Side, the young R. Kelly displayed an uncanny natural aptitude for the piano, and cut his teeth as a performer by playing a portable electric keyboard and singing with his homies out on the mean streets of the Windy City. The sounds of gospel music and the great romantic balladeers suffuse R. Kelly's work, and on 12 PLAY, his libidinous follow-up to BORN INTO THE 90'S, this gifted singer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist ...

Establishing themselves not only as new artists but as new songwriters, the four singers in 112 introduce their self-titled debut with a number of ballads and slowed-down grooves that focus on love and life. The smooth sound of their music blends perfectly with their four-part harmonies. With the support of Bad Boy Entertainment founder and producer ...

| | Eric Benet True To Myself CD (1996)
112 Part III album
$7.19 When music history is written and the retro-soul movement of the '90s and its primary proponents (Erykah Badu, Maxwell, D'Angelo, Tony Rich) are mentioned, Eric Benet will be invariably and unfairly overlooked. A quick listen to his 1996 debut TRUE TO MYSELF makes this oversight all the more puzzling. Benet combines the sensuality and smoothness of '70s soul with the new-jack upfrontness of '90s R&B minus the lewdness.
Benet mixes sexual and sanctified vibes with the aid of a creamy croon that permeates everything from the upbeat funk of "Spiritual Thang" to the bouncing grooves of "More Than Just A Girlfriend." On slow burners such as "Just Friends," "I'll Be There" and the title track, Benet is the kind of balladeer whose voice ripples with the kind of frisson normally associated with Teddy Riley. On Sly Stone's "If You Want Me To Stay," the Milwaukee native flawlessly pulls off the author's funky falsetto (with the aid of producer/multi-instrumentalist Roger ...

$19.99 This pairing of two key moments in the transition of Mink DeVille from full-on street rock & roll band to a sophisticated, songcrafting vehicle for frontman Willy DeVille cannot be overestimated. The sound developed here had been informed by the gorgeous balladic style displayed on Le Chat Bleu, Mink DeVille's last record for Capitol, and showcased ...
