Asia at its Best! There is no doubt that Asia did the right thing with releasing this album!! It is absolutely some of their best work! It outdoes everything they did in the 80s!!
I highly suggest purchasing Aura! Submitted by a reviewer (United States) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo
Surprisingly Excellent Great album overall. I dodn't know exactly what to expect from it but I was pleasantly surprised. Good music and almost every song has a nice chorus and a very catchy sound to it. This would be best described as "progressive pop" due to the fact that the album is very mellow. The sound however is verry full and rich instrumentally with good vocals too. These are songs you'll remember in your mind after you've listened to them. You'll want to listen to them again and again. Highlights include: (Awake, Wherever You Are, Ready To Go Home, Longest Night and Under The Gun which is probably the best song on the album). Truly excellent. Needs to be listened to a few times before forming an opinion about it. Submitted by Albert (Toronto, Canada) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo
Purely the best This is the apex of Asia's existence, Aura. It is beautifully crafted and extremely elegant, you won't stop listening to it. I have had it since 2001 and I still listen to it, all the way through. Listening to it in its entirety is the only way to get the full aura of the album. Aura has a such a complex feel to it, but it's so simple that it goes down like fine wine.
Buy it, it's just that good. Submitted by Dave (Olean, NY, USA) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo
Very Good Asia is perhaps one of the most respected bands and are above many of the so callled "Neo-progressive", new acts.
The time is now, not 1982, Geoff Downes is been capable of to keep the flame till these days, and not precisely with inactivity and bad music, cause since their come back in 1992, Asia's new albums are very professional, a mixture of great musicians collaborating to give form to great pieces of music.
Aura is not the exception, with the base foundation of the awesome and perhaps only real contender to one "Carl Parmer", Michael Surgis(who stayed on and played on Aria and Arena), and Guitar wizard Guthrie Govan(still their current and official Guitarist), the album lifts up with a variety of musicians .
Great songs, great passages and a lot of Old School of progressive rock tunes, Aura is a great album very cohesive yet a little disappointing since you ca'nt get to hear too much, Ian Crichton or Howe on their roles, but still there is a lot of great moments.
Very diverse in its compositions, Aura may not be powerful as Aria(94) but continues the tradition of Arena with a less "Acoustic" sound, bright ideas and good musicians, keep the lights off and enjoy this emotional trip.(the extra "sessions" tracks are very good too). Asia Helps Keep Classic Rock Alive Got this cd shortly after it was released and still enjoy it! Ever since John Payne joined the group the guys have taken a very different musical direction. Don't expect to hear "Heat of the Moment PT.2" here, but rather a solid offering of nicely written and produced classic rock tunes. Much better than the so-called "rock" being forced on us via radio these days! Submitted by S. Green (Kennewick, WA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo
