Originally released in 2000, A NEW DAY YESTERDAY marks the solo studio debut of blues singer/guitarist Joe Bonamassa. Only in his early 20s at the time of the album's recording, Bonamassa performs in a rough-and-tumble style that belies his relatively young age, as heard on both originals (the soulful "Current Situation") and a fine selection of covers (a fiery version of the Jethro Tull title track).
Recorded at Pyramid Recording Studios, Ithaca, New York.

Great CD,Joe has a little bit of a lot of great styles like Eric Johnson,Stevie Ray Vaughn,Kenny Wayne Shepperd,Duane Allman & Johnny Winter.Tight & upbeat songs with really good guitar licks.There's not a bad song on the CD.

Joe Bonamassa is one of the best guitar players I've ever heard, and I've listened to a lot of blues. The more I play the CD, the more I like it. His playing is diverse and voice sultry. If I had to drive all day, I wouldn't miss an opportunity to see him live.

Cradle Rock kicks off this magnificent initial solo release by Joe. Simply put, if you dig the blues and great blues players... then BUY IT !! Joe will be the next 5 year overnight sensation.. buy it and you won't be disappointed.

I heard one the song almost by mistake on last.fm and fell in love instantly.
The whole album is awesome, best guitar ive heard. sort of like eric johnson. Went to buy the CD the same day and really not disapointed. Best purchase so far this year lol. This guy has talent and will make people fall in love again with blues music. Great Job !!

Despite his statement in the liner notes that "In an era where it is best to play it safe, I chose to take a risk...," there isn't much surprising or risky about young guitarist Joe Bonamassa's fifth studio album. Most of his previous releases have mixed blues covers with his own originals, all played with a rocker's attitude, volume and less-than-subtle approach. This one follows suit and even though he goes on to say that he "wanted to make a blues album, not a rock album that has blues on it," as in the past; it's impossible to claim that he has succeeded with You & Me. All songs written or co-written by James Thackery except "Bullfrog" (Harris), "Mercury Blues" (K.C. Douglas) and "Don't Lose Your Cool" (Albert Collins).
Trouble Man is a hard-driving blues-rock album, with more emphasis on the "rock" than Thackery's other releases. It slows down just long enough for the slightly dark "Lovin' You Right" and the jazzy "Anchor to a Drowning Man," arguably the best cut here. "Doin' 100" and the instrumental "Hang Up and Drive" have a strong Stevie Ray Vaughan sound.
