(15 Customer Reviews)
The last 4 tracks on GREATEST HITS are newly recorded songs for this CD.
"Blessed" was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Awards for Best Female Country Vocal Performance.
Cynics might suggest that pop-country star Martina McBride's greatest assets are here pearly whites and piercing blue eyes. Those who've followed the trajectory of McBride's career (a decade and six albums at the time of this compilation's release) know that the real reasons for her success are a set of super-strong pipes and a knack for picking material from some of Nashville's most hit-bound songwriters. One of those writers, Gretchen Peters, provided McBride with a signature song early on, in the form of "Independence Day," a bold narrative that deals unflinchingly with spousal abuse.
To her credit, McBride didn't try to repeat that song's success by becoming Nashville's poster girl for social causes. The rest of the songs on GREATEST HITS cover a variety of topics, but mostly center around the timeless biggies like celebration of love ("My Baby Loves Me"), glory of God (the previously unreleased "Blessed"), and surviving doomed relationships ("Broken Wing"). With its all-encompassing coverage of McBride's career highlights and its bevy of never-before-heard songs, GREATEST HITS is the definitive introduction to McBride's career.

Greatest Hits
$6.39 This audio document of The Corrs' Dublin homecoming concert has pretty much everything fans of Irish pop could wish for, including an appearance from Bono in his earthly incarnation, fresh from an audience with President George W. Bush. It's to the band's credit that the charismatic singer fails to steal the show, despite creditable efforts via an anthemized version of Ryan Adams' beautifully downtempo "When the Stars Go Blue," and a great, leering rendition of Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra's "Summer ...

$8.99 "This One's For The Girls" was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance.
The sound of mainstream contemporary country hits you square in the face with no apologies on MARTINA. As on her earlier, massively successful albums, Nashville belter Martina McBride (you thought maybe the title referred to the tennis player?) continues in the style that garnered her a huge audience in the second half of the 1990s. The album is full of gently anthemic pop/country songs sporting simple lyrics full of positive messages. "She's a Butterfly," for example, sounds like it could have been the alternate theme for DAWSON'S CREEK, and the forthright "City of Love" seems tailor-made for an urban-renewal campaign commercial. Not that McBride doesn't speak directly to her audience--it's hard to get more direct than a shout-out like "this is for all you girls about 25" (from "This One's for the Girls," ...
| | Brooks & Dunn Greatest Hits Collection II CD (2004)
Greatest Hits
$9.75 There's no denying that Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn ruled the pop/country roost throughout the 1990s, but this second volume of Brooks & Dunn hits shows that the phenomenally successful duo kept chugging along well beyond their early-'90s heyday. It's mainly occupied by tracks from the late '90s and early 2000s, interspersed with a few new bonus cuts to keep the faithful on board. Those who've kept up with the twosome's career will be familiar with the ground covered by the hits, from the old-school barroom weeper "I'll Never Forgive My Heart" to the nostalgic Bob Seger-goes-to-Nashville country-rock title track of the duo's 2003 album, RED DIRT ROAD.
As for the new songs, they run the gamut; the jubilant "That's What It's All About" is full of lustrous production ...
| | Shania Twain Greatest Hits CD (2004)
Greatest Hits
$10.45 With the help of her husband, "Mutt" Lange, a legendary producer who helmed mammoth hits by AC/DC and Def Leppard, Canadian songstress Shania Twain developed a highly commercial style of country-tinged pop music that helped her become one of the biggest stars in America. Though GREATEST HITS doesn't include the two major singles from her 1993 self-titled debut, Twain has released so many hits that the 21-track disc is still overflowing with familiar chart-busters. Listening to these ubiquitous songs all in one stretch will leave listeners awed at the breadth of Twain and Lange's incredible talent for catchy pop ditties that sound cutting-edge while still retaining that ever-important hint of Nashville twang. In fact, though laced with the usual fiddles and steel guitars, many songs end up recalling ABBA and the Cars as much as anything south of the Mason-Dixon Line. Of ...

| | Outspoken Prodical Son CD (2006)
Greatest Hits
$10.15 This seasoned minister/rapper has a very inspiring story to tell. The Flint, MI born artist has dedicated his life and talents to sharing his testimony of redemption back to God with all listeners. After submitting to the call of ministry in 2002, Outspoken was ready to give up everything including his career in secular rap music in order to serve GOD, he states, "It seems like at the moment that GOD seen that I would give up my music to serve him he gave it back to me" and said "I gave you this gift to glorify my name and kingdom not to glorify the streets and negativity". Since that moment of clarity Outspoken has been on the ball every since. He is now a Minister at Grace Cathedral Community Church in Flint, MI and continuously works with innercity youth of all ages. What sets Outspoken apart from other artists is that he is a Prophet and waits on the lord for his lyrical message. He knows that what he speaks is straight from GOD as a message to predestined listeners so he is very sincere in his compositions and sermons. He is a true servant of GOD who is always helping and putting others ahead of himself. Since the release of his well recieved debut album "The Prodical Son" he has been requested to speak at numerous churches, youth ...
| | Tracy Byrd Truth About Men CD (2003)
Greatest Hits
$6.05 Principally recorded at Emerald Sound Studios, Nashville, Tennessee.
Much like its half-dozen predecessors, Tracy Byrd's seventh album steers about as close to traditional country as it's possible to get and still hear your songs on the radio. Byrd's choice of songs here ranges from the sentimental ("Tiny Town," When You Go") to the Jimmy Buffet-style faux-reggae of "How'd I Wind Up in Jamaica," with nods to the old-fashioned drinking song in both "Drinkin' ...
