Best Soundtrack of the Season
These days it's hard to find quality anything, much less a movie soundtrack. So it comes as a pleasant surprise that the Serendipity soundtrack is such a great album.
It has standard fare for a romance movie's soundtrack, Louis Armstrong inclusive, but these tracks are a bit higher on the line than many in recent soundtracks.
Standout tracks include 83 by up and comer John Mayer and Moonlight Kiss by Bap Kennedy. These are both great folky tunes with a bit of a jazz flavor thrown in. Annie Lennox does a great job covering the reggae classic Waiting In Vain. David Grey and Shawn Colvin both have tracks on the album, as does folk genius Nick Drake.
The spotlight of the record, however belongs to Evan and Jaron, whose track, The Distance, perfectly captures the mood of the film. This pop-ier version of the song that appears on their first edition self titled album is destined to become a hit on the radio and MTV. The version found on this soundtrack will also be on all future copies of their self titled.
The only odd duck on the cd is the Brian Whitman's classic There's Always Something There to Remind me. It's such a great song, though, that is the fact that it doesn't fit in perfectly style wise doesn't even matter.
Track for track this is a great soundtrack. It will be sure to be found in constant rotation in your car stereo and workplace. There's nothing better than a nice mix of folk rock.

Serendipity - Simply Awesome
The whole Serendipity Soundtrack is fantastic! My personal favorites are Bap Kennedy's "Moonlight Kiss", "Never A Day" by Wood, the remake of "Waiting In Vain" by Annie Lennox and last but not least, the breathtaking ballad by Evan and Jaron called "The Distance".

Serendipity Rocks!
I usually prefer soundtracks to albums by one band because of the bigger variety, and "Serendipity" is no exception. I love David Gray's instrumental, "January Rain," and Nick Drake's "Northern Sky," but my absolute favorite song on the album is "The Distance," by evan and jaron. It fits in perfectly with the movie's theme and is absolutely beautiful. If nothing else, I would recommend this album just for that song.
