4 stars Morrimur by Hillard Ensemble & C Poppen: Must Listen
I heard the Ciaccona with accompanied choral voices on the radio and ordered this cd that day. The choral accompaniment fits and adds an additional spirtual layer to an already beautiful piece of music. I have listened to the other selections on the cd, but this is the piece de resistance. The violin is a baroque violin. I don't notice much of a difference in sound. Perhaps this is due to the fact that the recording was made in the Monestary of Saint Georald in Austria and the effect of the reverberations give the violin additional depth and richness.
