String Tribute to Tool features a number of string performers interpreting some of the esteemed heavy metal band's best-known songs. While the transition from heavy metal to strings may seem like an awkward leap in the minds of many, Tool's music makes the leap surprisingly well. It's the band's somewhat covert emphasis on dynamic song structures and progressive motifs rather than metal clichés that makes this transition seem so effortless. Anyone with a taste for Tool's more superfluous moments should find this album particularly interesting. It's an album that definitely acknowledge's the band's high-brow elements. ~ Jason Birchmeier

5 stars The Best!!!
I bought this CD for my friends birthday. Lucky for me, she wanted to play it as soon as she opened it. It was the best insturamental music done from rock music. Now its my turn to buy the cd for myself.

4 stars These guys are good...
This is an interesting album. Of course as you all know these are Tool songs played by a orchestra or some guys with strings :) If they had written them it would be a 5 plus album but since they didn´t I can only give them about 4 stars. Tool fans, BUY THIS AND LISTEN TO THE GREATEST SONGS OF ALL TIME IN ANOTHER VERSION........

5 stars Has been done before, brilliant nonetheless!
Years ago when i was growing up and a huge Metallica fan, i came across a CD put together by four Finish cello players that did Metallica covers on their cellos. It was called Apocolyptica. Listening to this CD i hear pretty much a direct parralell. Having said that, it's a brilliant concept, and flawlessly brought to life. Both Metallica and Tool have a lot in common with classical music in terms of rhythm, progressions, and epic pieces. Hearing this music on classical instruments is simply mind blowing.

5 stars BRILLIANT!!!!
This is a true testament to what an amazing band Tool is. I was blown away with the string arrangement!!! It's so beautiful, dark, and it adds a little more mystery to theese 10 Tool songs (if it's even posible). I highly recommend it! I listen to "Third Eye Open" every day and i never get bored of it. This is truley art at it's best!

5 stars Beautiful, and Satisfactory in every way!!
Third Eye Open is by far one of the most outstanding albums I have heard. Magical, beautiful, full of emotion. When i first heard this cd i was amazed by how powerful it was. By how much power it held over my emotions. It carries you away and brings you face to face with saddness, happiness, and adventures that you have never lived before. An amazing album. 5 stars by far.
