Contains the hidden track "Brotha" which occurs between "The Heat" and "Time Of The Month." "More Than A Woman" was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Awards for Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal. Angie Stone's sophomore ... Full Descriptioneffort finds this neo-soul queen building on a rep that includes being part of the rap trio Sequence, fronting acid-jazz outfit Vertical Hold, and contributing to D'Angelo's landmark BROWN SUGAR. Using her stellar debut BLACK DIAMOND as a springboard, the South Carolina native uses plenty of grooves, sass, and scads of poetic lyricism to flex her creative muscle over the course of 17 tracks. Stone is alternately wrapping herself around a sample of the O'Jays "Backstabbers" on the yearning "Wish I Didn't Miss You," and not taking any mess on the assertive "Pissed Off".
The nature of relationships is at the core of this outing. Stone's passion allows her to easily switch gears from declaring she'll take homelessness over unrequited love on the gorgeous "Bottles & Cans" to serving up a potent stew of romance with the equally talented Musiq Soulchild on the hypnotic "Ingredients Of Love". Elsewhere, strong black men everywhere get their props over the undulating beat of "Brotha" and neo-soul credentials are reaffirmed by a transcendent cover of Curtis Mayfield's "Makings Of You [Interlude]" dappled with delicate acoustic guitar picking.
Import edition of the accomplished neo-soul queen's second solo outing. Includes one bonus track, the highly sought after Remix of 'Brotha Pt.II featuring Alicia Keys & Eve'. Also included on this 18 track edition is the US bonus track, 'Time Of the Month'. 2002 BMG release.

A Must Have CD! I've been following Angie Stone for quite a awile. She once sang lead for the group Vertical Hold and most people don't realize just how long she has been in and around the business. This CD is excellent and a must buy for those wanting the best in R&B music! Submitted by percyjohnson28269 (Charlotte NC, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Impressive.... That old saying "you don't know what you're missing" applies here. You see I'm very, very late to the Angie Stone party. Man I love this CD, especially tracks 4-7, 11 and 15. Is it me or is this woman patterned after Gladys Knight? She is the next Gladys Knight. I'm only sorry I hadn't given her a chance earlier. Sizzlin' Soul Set This is the term I would use to describe a concert for this artist. She is deep on this album and I' m feeling her. "Brotha" is nice tribute to the forgotten brothers who are trying to survive out here. On the track "Wish I didn't miss You" she is giving you the real feelings of a lost love. The track with Musiq is like a Marvin Gaye & Tammy Terrell feel, just pure soul coming through!!! This sista got them all faded on the what real R&B/Soul music is all about. Give her props, I'm can't wait to see what's next from this talented sista!!! Submitted by a reviewer (Hammond, IN) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
