THE CHRISTMAS SHOES ALBUM was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Awards for Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album.
In 2000, vocal group Newsong released the holiday single "The Christmas Shoes." The song quickly climbed to the top of the charts, becoming to Newsong what "Butterfly Kisses" is to Bob Carlisle. Due to the single's overwhelming success, the five group members, Michael O'Brien, Stephen Reischl, Billy Goodwin, Matt Butler, and Eddie Carswell, decided to record a full-length holiday project, aptly titled The Christmas Shoes, which was released in 2001. The album is a combination of upbeat, holiday fun and inspirational pieces. In addition to the title song, the project includes a beautifully structured vocal arrangement of "Away in a Manger/God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" and a version of the classic cartoon song "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch." ~ Ashleigh Kittle

Inspirational Christmas Music I bought this album specifically for the title song "These Christmas Shoes". As it turns out there is so much more original Christmas music that is outstanding. NewSong"s renditions of some Christmas classics is just magnificent. This is by far the best album, of any kind, I have purchased in years. I highly recommend it. Christmas Shoes album
$10.29 Faith Hill won the 2000 CMA Award for Female Vocalist Of The Year.
BREATHE won the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Country Album. "Breathe" won the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. "Let's Make Love" won the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals. "Breathe" was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award in the categories of Best Country Song and Song Of The Year. "The Way You Love Me" was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Country Song.
With her third album, FAITH, Faith Hill tasted pop crossover success--and she evidently liked the taste. BREATHE, Hill's fourth release, takes the pop/country stylings of FAITH to the next level. It's an appealing collection of pop, gospel, R&B, rock, and ballads, with just a bit of country thrown in. The production, featuring Hill's big voice surrounded by booming drums and screaming guitars, is so slick you could skate on it.
Love is the subject of nearly every song, from the exuberant "I Got My Baby," to the soulful "Love Is a Sweet Thing," to the cutesy "The Way You Love Me," with its Beatlesque backing vocals. But while Hill can obviously handle a wide range of material, she sounds best on the quieter, country-flavored numbers, like the title track, the lovely "It Will Be Me," and a haunting, vaguely Latin-flavored reworking of Bruce Springsteen's "If I Should Fall Behind." The most emotional track is "Let's Make Love," a full-fledged duet with Hill's husband Tim McGraw. Because McGraw's voice is unmistakably country, ...
| | Johnny Otis 1945-1947 CD (2002)
Christmas Shoes CD music
$18.05 Growing up among Afro-Americans in Berkeley, CA, Greek-American Johnny Otis (born John Veliotes) always identified strongly with people of color. Before he had attained the age of 20 he was gigging with black jazz bands throughout the Southwest, and eventually organized an ensemble deliberately patterned after Count Basie's orchestra. This highly charged album of historical musical artifacts documents the very beginning of Johnny Otis' recording career. With one apparently unobtainable exception, the Classics Blues & Rhythm Series has assembled all of Otis' Excelsior recordings, made in Los Angeles between 1945 and 1947. This provides background and context for his more well-known Savoy material, and indeed for everything this amazing person accomplished during the second half of the 20th century. Otis' first act as a recording bandleader was to borrow Jimmy Rushing from Count Basie! Rushing sounds right at home with this group, which included tenor saxophonist Paul Quinichette, pianist Bill Doggett, and bassist Curtis Counce. During "Preston's Love Mansion," as Doggett quotes the famous riff from Dizzy Gillespie's "Salt Peanuts," the band hollers "Johnny Otis!" instead. And well they might, for during this exciting number and indeed most of the performances throughout this collection, Otis handles his drums with energetic insistence, "dropping bombs" and provocatively stirring ...

| | U2 Achtung Baby CD (1991)
Christmas Shoes music CDs
$10.45 In 1991, U2 shocked the pop-music world with ACHTUNG BABY, a striking departure from the Irish band's beloved '80s arena-rock sound. Here the group careens into sonically adventurous territory, reveling in distorted guitars, drum loops, and layers of synthesizers.
The stunning opening track, "Zoo Station," kicks in with fierce, fuzzed-out guitar and a clanging industrial beat, Bono's distinctive voice the only tell-tale sign that this is indeed a U2 album. From here, ACHTUNG BABY deftly maneuvers between giddy electro-pop (the shimmering "Even Better Than the Real Thing," the funky "Mysterious Ways"), bold techno-tinged rock (the majestic punch of "Until the End of the World," the seductive squall of "The Fly"), and contemplative ballads (the heartbreakingly beautiful "One," the haunting closer "Love Is Blindness"). Throughout it all, the quartet plays to the peak of its abilities, aided by the atmospheric, top-notch production of Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno. This is the record where Bono, for better or worse, fully embraced the role of "rock star," with the Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen, Jr. ably accompanying him every swaggering step of the way. One of the group's finest outings, ACHTUNG BABY is indisputably U2's most adventurous album.
Recorded at Hansa Ton Studios, Berlin, Germany; Dog Town, S.T.S. and Windmill Lane Studios, Dublin, Ireland.

Christmas Shoes songs
$11.29 CCM outfit MercyMe had four albums to their credit before releasing 2006's COMING UP TO BREATHE. While the effort boasts the group's usual blend of pop-rock structures, accessible melodies, and faith-based lyrics, COMING UP TO BREATHE finds MercyMe refining their craft to offer up some of the best songwriting and playing of their career.
The driving, soaring title track opens the album with an effective punch, and also establishes singer Bart Millard's lyrical stance ...

Christmas Shoes album
$19.59 The double album that brought Sonic Youth to the attention of a wider audience and prompted the eager interest of a handful of major labels. DAYDREAM NATION, with its sleepy single candle flickering silently on the gatefold cover, harnessed their reckless live favourite, "Teenage Riot," while they ran gloriously roughshod over "Rain King" and "Silver Rocket," and offered the overtly camp glee of "Trilogy," which came with parts a, b and c.
