A SOUL CLASSIC Back in the day, this record was all over the clubs. This is a soul classic and Michael's best dance record. So why did Epic have to gum it up with talking commentaries. Put that stuff on a separate disc if it must be included. This kind of nonsense is all too prevalent with remastered reissues. Record companies need to leave it alone!!! Must have for collecters! Just recently added this CD to my collection as it is indeed the album that started his thrust to mega stardom. Absolutely brilliant This was Michael's flowering, in one sense. He was finally able to launch out and make his own in the world after the Jackson 5 broke up. Some of his best songs are on here, and they are all incredibly jovial on average. This album proved to the world that he can do it; that, by himself, he can shine, shine, shine. There isn't a weak song on the record, even though Michael only wrote about half of the songs on here. Nothing else is comparable to any other artist. No one has flourished so greatly without overblowing his/her own self-importance than on this album. Sure, it made Michael Jackson a star, but it also showed the world that it was the music that was great, not the personage behind it. Absolutely wonderful. If you're a fan of Michael Jackson, this is a must-have. You can't stay in the wonders of Thriller, the experiments of Bad, and the grittiness of Dangerous for forever, and Off The Wall is the best retreat to go into.
