Released in conjunction with Argument, Furniture is a three-song EP putting together older tracks that had yet to be put on disc. Running with similar consistency to the 3 Songs EP that preceded Repeater, these older songs still sound fresh. "Furniture," with its trademark Ian MacKaye call-response vocal, would have been quite comfortable on either of the first two EPs. The Guy Picciotto-led "Hello Morning" is reminiscent of "Break-In," while the driving instrumental second track, "Number 5," is scorching. Thankfully kept separate from the very different Argument, this should be heard by any Fugazi fan, no matter what time of the band they consider the best. ~ Chris True

Alternative Press (12/01, p.82) - 8 out of 10 - "...Three riff-driven songs burning with the sense of urgency that's made Fugazi a genre in and of themselves..."
Typical Fugazi... Not that they're ever typical, except in continuous quality of output. This too-short EP has songs reminiscent of Fugazi's early output, as opposed to the greater melodicism of Red Medicine and The Argument. The first track has an infectious stop-start riff with trademark MacKaye vocals and is probably the highlight. The instrumental is also very good, mixing melodic guitar interplay with squalls of noise. The EP ends with the mandatory Guy rant which is not as good as the first two tracks, but still pretty cool. The only real flaw with this EP is that it lasts a mere 9 minutes. Submitted by nate_avery (Bicton, Western Australia) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo
