Tapped to provide music for Peter Jackson's cinematic journey into the world of J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth, veteran composer Howard Shore uses a deft hand in bringing life to this tale of Elves, Dwarves, Hobbits and men. Working with a story based on the age-old battle between good and evil centering on a quest to destroy a mystical and malevolent gold ring, Shore's compositions and direction of The London Philharmonic Orchestra are steeped in an extensive use of dark and light shadings. Cuts like "The Shadow Of The Past" and The Treason Of Isengard" are pumped full of militaristic brass, heavy orchestration and a netherworld-flavored chorus straight from The Exorcist. On the flipside are the quaint "Concerning Hobbits" with its Uillean pipes and darting strings as well as "Many Meetings" which finds heavier orchestral arrangements banished in favor of more lighter, more uplifting string and woodwind sections.
Celtic enchantress Enya lends a medieval flavor to the proceedings with a pair of originals. The majestic strains of "The Council Of Elrond Featuring 'Aniron (Theme For Aragorn And Arwen)" finds her contributing the slightest bit of ethereal harmonizing while "May It Be" is a more fully realized lyric-packed song steeped in unbowed optimism.
'The Lord Of The Rings-The Fellowship Of The Ring' features 2 new tracks by Enya, score by Howard Shore, with contributions by Elizabeth Frasier (Cocteau Twins) & Edward Ross as well as London Philharmonic Orchestra & New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. Also features 6 trading cards, not in limited edition version.

I rate this soundtrack with excellent marks,
because it gives you the want to see the movie type of deal. Howard Shore is at his
top of his music level on this one. I rate his music with John Williams as the top of the league. Excellent!! When you hear Enya
it makes you want to be there in the movie yourself. Overall the music makes everything
come alive in your home wishing you could be there with the Fellowship, taking the ring back to be destroyed. I am looking forward in
future music of Howard Shore. I hope he gets
a Oscar for his great work on this soundtrack. I hope everybody likes the movie
and the music behind it.

One of the best soundtrack I have ever heard. You can shut your eyes and picture yourself watching the movie unfold. Great soundtrack!! I would highly recommend this soundtrack to anyone who enjoys great music.

This enchanting score is energetic and inspiring. Composer Howard Shore has produced a soundrack outdone by only the movie itself. Singer and songwriter Enya adds charm and enchantment to the sountrack with two songs. I would not recomend this soundtrack to those wanting relaxation as the music is swift and intense.

When I heard that the soundtrack was coming on cd, I was like" where the heck can I get it" It's absolutely amazing, it's like you're in the movie being one of the characters. The orkest really has outdone thereselves. Really it's a cd you have to get. Without knowing you're seeing the movie all over again and that only because of the music

I believe that all three of the sound tracks sound amazing! I dont't own them, but after listening to these perviews, I think that I will go out and buy them tomorrow. I LOVE LOTR!
