(3 Customer Reviews)
A true comeback album, Aerosmith's PERMANENT VACATION featured the original line-up, and it gave the band its first top 10 hit in a decade ("Angel"). Thanks to Tyler & Perry's ground-breaking collaboration with Run D.M.C. in 1986 (on Aerosmith's old hit, "Walk This Way"), the band's visibility was high. The rehabilitated band took advantage of that opening with this album, a batch of hard rock songs that recalled their glory days of the 70s.
All tracks have been digitally remastered.
Recorded at Little Mountain Sound Studios, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Q (4/01, p.92) - 4 stars out of 5 - "...Cleaned-up band make real 'comeback' album, thanks to Bon Jovi's songwriters penning some hits and MTV introducing the band to Bon Jovi's fans." Kerrang (Magazine) (p.51) - "Tyler and Perry not only tapped back into the love of music and performance that first inspired them, but suddenly felt so alive that their collective cup spilled over with excitement and productivity." Permanent Vacation
$6.59 After starting off the '80s on the wrong foot because of personnel defections, changing music trends, and various personal and business problems, the original Aerosmith line-up reunited for 1985's DONE WITH MIRRORS. Produced by Van Halen/Montrose knob-twirler Ted Templeman, MIRRORS is a bare-bones Aerosmith record that was last the band recorded without the benefit of outside songwriters.
The results range from the rhythmically slinky "Shela" to the funky boogie of "The Hop." Elsewhere, songs such as the hard-hitting "My Fist Your Face" and the slide guitar-drenched "She's on Fire" show the band was able ...
| | Dio Last In Line CD (1984)
Permanent Vacation
$7.29 Dio's 1984 follow-up, LAST IN LINE, benefited greatly from MTV's airing of the video clip for the title track. Guitarist Vivian Campbell (who later joined Whitesnake and Def Leppard) establishes himself as one of the genre's top shredders of the day, while keyboardist Claude Schnell gives the music a gothic feel. The album earned Dio his second gold record (LAST IN LINE was later certified ...

| | Aerosmith Pump CD (1989) Remastered
Permanent Vacation
$6.79 Aerosmith surprised everyone when their 1987 album, PERMANENT VACATION, was a success, coming as it did after several releases that had done nothing but verify the belief that the band had peaked a decade earlier. PUMP (1989) followed its radio-friendly predecessor and proved the Boston quintet's comeback was no fluke. Hits like "Love in an Elevator" and "Janie's Got a Gun" were ...
| | Ozzy Osbourne Ozzmosis CD (1995) Remastered
Permanent Vacation
$7.59 Let us all be thankful that Ozzy's retirement didn't stick. It supposedly lasted for three days, after which he got bored and started working on this project. Heavy, riff-intensive tunes, progressive song structures and a little psychedelia give OZZMOSIS a definite Sabbath flavor. Ozzy must have been in touch with whatever inspired early classics like PARANOID and MASTERS OF REALITY. Witness the extremely chunky "Thunder Underground," which can stand up next to "Sweet Leaf" and "Symptom Of The Universe" as an archetype of hard rock. The trippy guitar in "Ghost Behind My Eyes" and "Denial" are not some young Ozzy-wannabe going for a retro sound--this man was there, "Planet Caravan"ing.
Still, this heavy metal daddy in touch with his roots is also hip to the genre's latest sound. OZZMOSIS has a live, up-front feeling, thanks to producer Michael Beinhorn (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden). Zakk Wylde's huge, raw guitar also plays a major role. He provides scorching solos, lush textures and juicy fills with a muscular tone and minimal effects--the perfect complements to Osbourne's ...
| | David Lee Roth Skyscraper CD (1988)
Permanent Vacation
$6.09 On SKYSCRAPER, Roth stresses songwriting over instrumental virtuosity this time around-with often-grand results. The epic, sonically rich title track was comparable to little else at the time (or, for that matter, anything else since), while the single "Just Like Paradise" was the top-ten hit that pushed SKYSCRAPER to platinum status. Other highlights include the new wave dance sounds of "Stand Up," the gorgeous pop rocker "Hina" (which deserved to be a single), the nostalgic acoustic ballad "Damn Good," and the rockers "Knucklebones," "The Bottom Line," and "Hot Dog and a Shake." Unfortunately, SKYSCRAPER and the subsequent tour marked the last collaborations ...

| | Graham Parker Extended Versions CD (2002)
Permanent Vacation
$6.09 A reading of the track listing to Extended Versions will look rather familiar to a loyal Graham Parker fan, and with good reason -- the same ten songs appeared in the very same order on Parker's 1979 masterpiece Squeezing out Sparks. So has someone at BMG repackaged Squeezing out Sparks for some reason? Well, no, not quite. After Squeezing out Sparks was released to rave reviews and Parker and his band the Rumour were getting lots of press for their firestorm live shows, the promotional department at his label, Arista, took recordings of two Parker concerts (taped by radio stations for later broadcast), pulled out all the tunes from Squeezing out Sparks, sequenced them in the same order ...

| | Gian Tornatore Fall CD (2008)
Permanent Vacation
$16.45 “His tone is clear as a bell and his compositions display a quiet intelligence that’s refreshing to behold.” - Florence Wetzel, All About JazzGian Tornatore presents an exciting and sophisticated repertoire of jazz music that can be enjoyed by all audiences. He was raised in California and was exposed to the rhythmic R&B music of Tower Of Power at an early age. Upon moving to the East Coast to attend Berklee College of Music, his saxophone playing and compositions became heavily influenced by musicians such as George Garzone, Hall Crook, and Pat Metheny. When asked about Gian, George Garzone replied, “I have been privileged to be Gian’s teacher, and over this time I have seen him evolve into one of Berklee’s most innovative and original saxophone players as well as composers.”Gian’s first major performance occurred at the age of 16; he was invited to perform with the musical group Heart. Gian has also ...
