 Andy Russell on the Radio
This CD is a welcome addition to the collection of any fan of the romantic music of the 40s. Nobody did it better than Andy Russell. Andy was the first major Latino music superstar ... he sang in English and Spanish fluently ... paving the way for Desi Arnaz, Vikki Carr, and even Ricky Martin. These two radio broadcasts convey Andy's talents as a singer and an all-around entertainer. The audio is surpisingly well-preserved. The songs range from good to superb, but Andy's performances are all top-notch. If you remember Andy, this is a must. If you'd like to discover what made him worthy of replacing Frank Sinatra as the star of "Your Hit Parade" on radio, just listen. As an extra bonus, his guests are Peggy Lee and Ella Mae Morse.
