Carnie and Wendy Wilson, formerly of pop combo Wilson-Phillips, deliver corny sugarplums on Hey Santa. Except for the co-penned title track (with guest vocal appearance from uncle Carl Wilson), it's all standard material ranging from "Little Drummer Boy" to "Jingle Bell Rock." The music blends the cuddly pop of their previous group with a lukewarm Phil Spector/girl-group sound. Beach Boys fans will want to note "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus," a 1977 track from the family vaults with papa Brian on piano. ~ Roch Parisien

Beautiful Harmonies! I bought this album after hearing the title cut 'Hey, Santa' on the radio ever December. What a treat! Not only is the title track in my top ten of all time Christmas songs, but the rest of the album is great, too. Some Christmas songs are covered by so many singers and tend to eventually all sound the same, but the Wilson girls put an original spin on the songs that put them in a class by themselves. Even the old Judy Garland number, 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' has been relieved of its boredom and the delightful harmonies of these girls make it a pleasant surprise.
It may be too late for this year, but you should consider adding this to your collection before it goes out of print (God forbid).
A wonderful addition to my Christmas collection. You'll like it too! Submitted by hemistanley (Silver Spring, MD, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 2 found this helpful.
