Hans Zimmer has a certain zest for meshing genres and cultures within his scores, and BLACK HAWK DOWN is a perfect example. Ostensibly following guidelines set by Jerry Goldsmith's THE 13TH WARRIOR, where traditional Arabic scales and tones ... Full Descriptionwere fused with a bold neo-Scandinavian ambiance, Zimmer employs similar tactics to enhance the theme of the film. He intensifies BLACK HAWK DOWN's clash of civilizations by taking traditional Middle Eastern musical themes and blending them with distinctly Western styles of pop, rock, and even country. In addition to the Goldsmith inspiration, nods to Peter Gabriel's PASSION are evident, especially when Zimmer adds Middle Eastern vocals to the score. However, the sonic tapestry he weaves from these influences and styles is coordinated so well that the proverbial stitches are rarely exposed.

Nominated:Best Music Video song, “Kathmandu Raajdhani”, Audience Choice Category at the Channel Nepal Music Video Award in 2004.Mero Priyasi (My Love): This is Sunil’s third album and his third collaboration with veteran musician Kishor Gurung. Recorded in 2002 and released in 2003 this album contains Sunil’s 8 personal songs. 6 out of the 8 songs are written by him and 7 of them are composed by him. Lot of work was put into this album, obsessive writing and composing was involved to create his style of songs. Sunil in his words about the songs: “Manka Kura”, this song was written around 2000 and re-written several times afterwards until its recording in 2002. A number suited very much for romance, this song is about falling in love, being with someone, dreaming about her, wanting to share and know everything about this beautiful person close by and under the Stars. A very catchy tune with a Carribean style beat to it.“Shun Shan Raat Ma”, this was written & composed in 2000 and re-written with more lines in 2001 & 2002 right till the time it got recorded. This song is about romance and it further extends to having sex with the romantic partner in a peaceful quiet night, under the Moon and the Stars. I always wanted to write songs on this theme but never got around to it until now. There have been a lot of songs regarding love however, a romantic song with sexual desires or words to that effect seldom come about. There are a lot of subjects to write about and I do try writing in other themes but I had never written about a relationship like this, so a first of its kind for me. I like the bass line and also the punch that the music overall has in this song. “Kathmandu Rajdhani”, started writing & composing in 1999 and was re-written several times later. This song was inspired by Kathmandu’s deteriorating environment. The smog, the foul smell from the dried out once a beautiful river Bagmati, heaps of garbage everywhere, plastics from all over the world scattered around the streets of Kathmandu, open drainage and sewer. The song basically talks about the deteriorating environment and pollution that has affected not only the children ...
