Continuing his musical journey around the world, Medwyn Goodall travels to Tanzania, where he encounters Africa's tallest peak and, according to the local Chagga people, the mythical home of an angry god who punishes anyone who tries to climb it. SNOWS OF KILIMANJARO was composed in response to the death of Martin Friend, who was murdered by Interahamwe rebels in Uganda just before he set out to climb the mountain. The killing resulted in a group expedition, organized by the Duchess of York and her group, Children In Crisis, to scale Kilimanjaro
From its opening notes, SNOWS OF KILIMANJARO displays a sense of urgency and a more sophisticated production than previous Goodall releases. Beginning with "Kilimanjaro" and proceeding through the remaining tracks, the album charts the passions and motivation that sustain climbers, from the delicate, marimba-like notes of "Be All You Can Be," through "Ascent" and "Above the Clouds," until the resolution of "Dawn Over Africa," with its ecstatic African singing.
Award WinnerNAPRA Review (05-06/02, p.81) - "...A standout among the many offerings from this prolific musician....This music echoes with touches of somewhat ghostly African chant, nature sounds, and world vibrations, creating a global aura..." Snows Of Kilimanjaro music CDs
$11.15 Responding to audiences that have encouraged his dual guitar approach in his live performances, Craig Chaquico features both electric and acoustic guitars on four of the ten songs included on his seventh Higher Octave Music recording, Shadow and Light. The CD offers an exciting blend of romantic ballads, up-tempo jams, and a cover of the jazz classic "Compared to What" with popular saxmen Warren Hill and Jeff Kashiwa. The music on this recording is also about the places people experience between the philosophical dualities of light and darkness in life, a concept that Chaquico explored due to the events in America on September 11, 2001. Together with his band and guest musicians, ...

Snows Of Kilimanjaro songs
$14.39 Back in the early '80s, it was easy for urban hipsters to dismiss new age in general as mind-numbing elevator music. But as time passed, the new age genre grew to be so diverse and eclectic that sweeping generalizations became increasingly problematic. These days, a lot of the music that is categorized as new age is fairly interesting; Medwyn Goodall is a perfect example. The British guitarist/producer/composer is among the people who combine new age with a variety of world music; his previous CDs have tended to appeal to both new age and world audiences, and there is no reason why Rhythm of the Ancients won't do the same. In the past, Goodall has experimented with everything ...

Jazz Sensibilities"An emotional depth that is reminiscent of great duos like Evans and Hall.
