5 stars I felt like my feet had just touched the ground of Ireland!
This is a absolutely beautiful cd. The tunes will play very nicely on Saint Patrick's Day but even more, whenever I want to escape from the stress of the day-- and by listening to this cd, I am placing myself in another time and place.

We picked our favorite Irish Pub songs and timeless fairy tale filk music and tenderly recorded them on a CD. We lovingly mixed and mastered this album with all the Brobdingnagian passion we could muster. Then Andrew and I added a sweet tear drop to each recording to add that extra bit of love.Once the CD was mailed to the printers, we threw our hands in the air and danced around the room laughing and dancing a jig. Our kilts bounced up high as we shouted out, "It's done! It's done! It's done" in unison. Then we grinned. It was good.*sigh* :-)Now that our part is done, we are ready to share it with you. To steal a phrase--this is fun for the whole family. There are some fun, clean Irish pub songs (they do exist!). We picked, found, and wrote some classic folk songs and filk music ("filk" is Fantasy/Sci Fi-based folk music) and recorded those as well.You will hear songs from Peter S. Beagle's amazing novel, The Last Unicorn. I wrote a song based on the children's book, The Paperbag Princess, and another inspired by The Princess Bride. Then there's a parody of a Schoolhouse Rock song, a song that inspired the title of my solo album "Soul of a Harper" by fantasy authoress, Rie Sheridan.And I'd be a fool not to mention that "The Jedi Drinking Song" is finally available ...

New Orleans trumpeter/vocalist Ruffins concentrates on good time jive and swing, with a big band taste and second-line influence on this CD with his group, the Barbeque Kings. His bright trumpet sound and slightly Louis Armstrong-inflected vocal style is complemented by his band of fellow young jazzmen, the most distinctive being trombonist Corey Henry. Ruffins wrote four of the 12 selections: "Treme Second Line" (Blow Da Whistle)," "Can't Take My Baby Nowhere," and "Hide the Reefer" are silly goof numbers, the latter with a Gene Krupa rhythm. The title track is a bopping instrumental where Ruffins, Henry, and tenor saxophonist Roderick Paulin get to blow a little. Ed Frank's "Fruit Punch" is also a swinging instrumental with promising solos. Ruffins cops Eddie Jefferson's lyric on "Things Are Getting Better," adding a peanut vendor line. He sings "Ain't Misbehavin'" and "Bucket's Got a Hole in It" ...

Hasil Adkins is a backwoods surrealist from rural West Virginia who spent most of the '50s, '60s, and '70s bashing ultra-crude rockabilly into an ancient reel-to-reel tape deck, one-man-band style (no overdubbing allowed -- Adkins keeps the beat with bass drum pedals while laying down the melody on guitar and howling his lyrics in a single fevered take). Adkins' approach would be odd enough no matter what his songs were about, but a quick scan of his lyrics indicates this is where he really starts to drift into the Twilight Zone; he's recorded no fewer than three tunes about decapitation, "She Said" concerns an assignation with a woman who looked "like a dyin' can of that commodity meat," and "The Hunch" describes the nation's slowest rising new dance craze like so -- "Now, if you ain't never seen nobody do the Hunch, you ain't never saw my woman! And I declare, son, you won't never see her! 'Cause I ain't got one!" Everybody clear on that? As you've no doubt gathered, Out to Hunch (compiled by Billy Miller from a decade's worth of home-recorded Adkins sessions, two of which were actually released as singles ...
