Practically identical to the same-titled but quickly out-of-print Best of N2Deep by Soul Town in 1999, the 40 Ounce collection rounds up all of N2Deep's best moments from the 1990s. The Cali duo from Vallejo specialized in party rap, and that's mostly what's compiled here, particularly on "Back to the Hotel," "California Hot Tubs," and "All Night," probably N2Deep's three most recognized songs. There are plenty more highlights here, though, specifically "Toss Up," "V-Town," "Threesome," "Parkin' Lot Pimpin'," "Cali Lifestyles," and "1st We Drink." Actually, there aren't any flat-out weak moments here, as every song is a standout on its respective album. A few fellow Cali Bay Area guests pop up here and there, including B-Legit, E-40, Mac Lee, P.S.D., Dru Down, and the one and only Roger Troutman. Given the handful of N2Deep albums released during the '90s and also their questionable availability, 40 Ounce's Best of N2Deep is surely the ideal place to begin, though the harder-to-find Soul Town collection should serve you just as well considering its practically identical track selection. ~ Jason Birchmeier
