Principally recorded at Compass Point Studios, Nassau, The Bahamas and Wisseloord Studios, Hilversum, The Netherlands.
Iron Maiden's 1986 SOMEWHERE IN TIME contains more than a few highlights, such as the ferocious album opener, "Caught Somewhere in Time," as well as softer singles "Wasted Years" and "Stranger in a Strange Land." And as with the band's preceding studio release, POWERSLAVE, another masterful composition closes the album, in this case the sprawling "Alexander the Great." Departing from the familiar sounds of stellar earlier releases like THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST and PIECE OF MIND, this album explores new musical territory with the addition of synthesizers, while maintaining its trademarks--galloping bass, heavy guitar riffs, and operatic vocals. Though there were some doubts initially, the addition of synthesizers didn't alienate the band's headbanging following. In fact, the change, along with this album's commercial success, was a clear indication of the band's musical progress.
This Limited version features vinyl replica packaging.
Digitally remastered by Simon Heyworth (Chop 'Em Out).
Iron Maiden: Bruce Dickinson (vocals); Dave Murray, Adrian Smith (guitar, synthesizer); Steve Harris (synthesizer, bass); Nicko McBrain (drums).

Iron Maiden Somewhere In Time Songs Somewhere In Time Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews This leaves you Somewhere in Time..... First off, this is by far the best if not the greatest Iron Maiden disc. This would be the very first Cd I bought of theirs when starting to buy CDs. I was hooked! From the atmospheric opening to the synth-driven Heaven Can Wait. Iron Maiden fire on all cylindars here and never slow down. This has to be metal in the finest form. This is my favorite Iron Maiden CD. Better pick this one up!! Submitted by James (North Dakota) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
One of their best albums Somewhere in Time is great Iron Maiden album. Contains unforgetable classics
such as "Wasted Years", "Heaven Can Wait"
and "Stranger in a Strange Land". Has excellent lyrics and cover art. One of the best Maiden albums of all time. Submitted by vikt269ik (Osijek, Croatia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Fantastic futuristic sound Somewhere In Time (1986) was released around the time when Maiden desided to add a futuristic sound to their music so they tryed it out on the awsome record. "Caught Somewhere In Time" Is an awsome opener, this has cool lyrics, and the solo is OUT OF THIS WORLD!! - 10/10. "Wasted Years" was the 1st single off this album, I love the lyrics, course, and solo in this song - 10/10. "Sea Of Madness" is a really underated track, the course and solo are fantastic - 10/10. "Heaven Can Wait" should have been released as a single because it's a really great song, I love the course in this - 10/10. "The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner" has a cool intro but the lyrics and course are really lame, the 1st solo sucks but the solo that comes after Bruce saying "I've got to keep running the course, I've got to keep running and win at all costs...." is FANTASTIC, I love that solo so much - 6/10. "Stranger In A Strange Land" has killer lyrics, a killer bridge, a killer course, and a cool solo, This was the 2nd single off the album - 10/10. "Deja Vu" is another underated track on this album, great lyrics/bridge/course/solo guys - 10/10. "Alexander The Great" is a song that tells the story about a B.C. warrior named Alexander, this song has a length of 8:36, killer course! - 10/10. If you wanna hear some kicka## futuristic metal by Iron Maiden get this album.........You'd LOVE IT! Submitted by spiderkid418 (Ladner, BC, Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Best Maiden song EVER is on this album... Hey, all you Iron Maiden fans...you don't need to be told SIT is a great album. You know it, and so do I. It holds its own with Number of the Beast, Powerslave etc.
But for the discriminating Heavy Metal fan out there who may not know much Maiden, this album contains the best song ever written by the group...Wasted Years. Coming from a band known for their occult leanings, Wasted Years is a fun but sad look back at a life in the music industry.
Also, without a doubt, the best Iron Maiden video EVER...and it's even included on this CD!
And what would an Iron Maiden album be without wicked cool cover art. Very cool paintings inside and out, including the Miami Vice spoof and the very cool Stranger in a Strange Land art.
If you don't have this album, what are you waiting for? Submitted by redskinStu (Alberta, Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Wow, Thumbs Up to Maiden Although many people have said Maiden weren't as spectacular with this cd, i have to disagree.. this cd shows the consistency and power of Maiden. Although this cd wasn't as big of a hit as the previous 3, the greatness is still there,so pick this one up. Standouts are Caught Somewhere in Time, Heaven Can Wait, Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, Deja-Vu Submitted by Jon (Winnipeg, MB) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$13.85 Although alternative rock was burning up the charts in 1992, longtime metallist outfit Iron Maiden admirably stuck to its guns with FEAR OF THE DARK. This effort follows in the path of 1990's NO PRAYER FOR THE DYING, as Maiden again sticks to more simple compositions, avoiding the more ambitious songwriting tendencies that marked the group's late-'80s work. The album-opening "Be Quick or Be Dead" recalls the work of such younger speed metal bands as Megadeth, while "From Here to Eternity" is one of Maiden's few ...

Somewhere In Time album
$14.79 V/A - "Death Rattle & Roll, Volume 1" 2004, (Wondertaker)Y'know....I really tried. I don't think you people have any clue how hard we try to be objective around here. I mean, the very best no-BS reviews is what it's all about. And with this latest creation by my buddies Sluggo & Rob's newly formed Wondertaker label, I didn't want to be unfairly biased by any preconceived notions. So I left the liner notes to this puppy far, far away so's there wouldn't be any cheating . But needless to say, right at track three....it was "whoa, backup!" time. What was that song with the ROSE TATTOO vibe? I gotta hear it again! Is that slide guitar at the end of the track? Sure enough, it was the GRANNIES "Chain Wallet" grabbing hold of my subconscious and giving it a good shake 'n twist. Seriously, THE GRANNIES are just about my favorite punk rock 'n roll band right now... as subtle as an engine block dropped on yer foot. Plus, they're even worse after a rowdy day of cruising the mall for moth balls and hard candies....Now, as punk comps go, there are a few that are sacred to me, and a ton that are dismissible (and flushable...in case you were wondering. Yes, it is possible. Just remember to break twice and you'll prevent clogging). A lot of these comps have a couple of good tracks, and tons of filler jammed in-between. Well, this smokin' collection is extremely light on filler....in ...
